💙 As part of Dementia Action Week, we’ll be holding a quiet time on Tuesday 19 May between 10.30am and 12pm, where we will turn off the sounds for those who would enjoy a more peaceful and relaxed visit.

⚔ The aim, however, is to still give a great experience of visiting Rufford Old Hall.

🔇 Don’t forget we also have our new Sensory Resource Station and Quiet Space*, located in and near our Entrance & Visitor Welcome building, designed to help visitors of all ages to feel comfortable and supported during their time with us.

*Please enquire with a member of staff, or ahead of your visit, to check that the Quiet Space is available as we sometimes use this room for other uses.

💙 We are taking part in Dementia Action Week, 18 - 24 May, to help raise awareness and highlight some of the things we have in place at Rufford to make us a dementia friendly space for visitors.

👉 During this week we have a number of sensory prompts in the house, tea-room and garden that you can take part in…

🌸 As you wander the garden, there are lots of different scents to experience amongst the flowers and trees – take a deep breath in, what can you smell? what do they make you think of?

🍰 The first-time baking or cooking is a memorable experience for many people. As you sit in the Victorian tea-room do you remember the first meal or recipe you tried to cook? How did it go?

🖋 The earliest version of the postcard dates back to 1840. The Victorian's often used postcards to share their sentiments and experiences with others. Use the pencil and postcards provided in the Study to write a message to someone.

Don't forget we are closed Wednesdays and Thursdays.

💜 The beautiful Wisteria sinensis is in bloom here at Rufford, displaying showers of elegant lilac flowers and sending a fragrant aroma out into the garden.

🌞 Commonly known as Chinese wisteria, it is a species of flowering plant in the pea family, native to China. Its fragrant, pea-like flowers create a stunning spectacle best displayed against a wall and thrive in full sun or part shade.

✨ Today Rufford’s staff visited Dunham Massey.

🌸 We walked the beautiful gardens, bursting with spring colour, ‘met Rembrandt’ - one of the most famous artists of all time during a slow looking experience and calmed our senses with Origin - a deep listening experience.

👣 The volunteers, with their wealth of knowledge, guided us round the house and we’d like to say an extra special thanks to David and Pauline who brought Dunham’s history to life.

🙏 Thank you so much for having us we thoroughly enjoyed it, and only 45 minutes from Rufford Old Hall it’s a lovely day out.
