APC have been made aware of a housing developer being interested in the land off Prescott road. There is no planning application associated with this at the moment; any comments submitted on the website: https://prescotroadtowngreen.co.uk. Are purely for the developer and not the planning authority.

Charles Church are in the early stages of bringing forward proposals for Prescot Road, Town Green. We are excited to share our emerging masterplan, hear from residents and gather local perspectives to help shape a community that works for all.

A planning application for 137 dwellings on the land to the east of Prescot Road has been submitted to West Lancashire Borough Council for which may affect many in Aughton.

Any comments can be made on the WLBC planning portal on the planning application using the following reference number: 2025/0565/FUL.

In the interest of full engagement in the planning process it is recommended that any opinion, objections, comments etc. are submitted by those who may be impacted by the development as only these submissions will be considered by the planning officers.

Aughton Parish Council is also a consultee on planning applications in the Parish and will meet on the 11th August at 1930 in Aughton Village Hall, you are welcome to attend.

Major changes to hospital services in West Lancashire and Sefton are being planned, which could include the closure of the children's Accident and Emergency unit in Ormskirk.

The NHS said closing the current A&E department in Ormskirk and moving it to Southport was its "preferred option".

It said it would be £45m cheaper than having a combined A&E department in Ormskirk and would address "inefficiencies, workforce pressures, and fragmented care delivery".

A meeting was set to agree a 13-week formal consultation. The local consultation will take place in Aughton on the 23rd September at the Ministry Centre on Long Lane and you will need to register to attend.
Aughton Parish Council is recommending that we support the moving of the entire current A&E back to Ormskirk, on the basis not only that this is the more geographically central part of the catchment area, but also reflecting the ongoing and increasing travel problems approaching Southport. The age demographics of the two areas also suggests a much higher proportion of children live on the West Lancashire side of the area.

The County Council’s Flood Risk Management Team has made arrangements to use the large meeting room at Ormskirk Civic Hall on Thursday 6th March, for a drop-in event running from 1530-1930 in support of people who have experienced flooding to their homes, business premises and farmland in any of the rainstorms that have impacted West Lancashire over the winter.
The event will be staffed by officers from the county council, West Lancashire Borough Council, the Environment Agency and United Utilities plc, all of whom know the district well and can advise on localised drainage issues, what has been learned for site-specific investigations, and how drainage problems are being corrected or overcome in different ways.
The Flood Hub team members will also be attending. They can advise on understanding the flood risks, and flood preparedness/resilience for residents, businesses and land owners who find themselves at repeated risk of flooding.
