The UK Government is now importing Russian oil while purposely shutting down the North Sea.

Last night in Parliament, Ed Miliband forced his MPs to vote against our motion to save the North Sea and British refineries.

He argued Labour’s plans to kill British oil and gas production was ‘climate leadership.’

Meanwhile he was waiving sanctions on buying oil from Vladimir Putin.

While I’m obviously disappointed not to have been returned to Parliament, can I thank all those who have supported me at this election and over my 9 years as an MSP.

It’s been the greatest honour to serve the people and communities of the Highlands and Islands. It’s not an easy job. And it involves long hours and hard work. But it is so important and one that is deeply rewarding.

I wish all those elected to represent our region all the very best.
