We’re really looking forward to Science Week next week and wanted to give you a quick overview of what the children will be exploring.

Monday – Launch Assembly
We’ll begin the week with a whole-school assembly to introduce our theme of Curiosity.

All children will attend, and this will set the tone for a week full of questions, investigation and discovery.

In the Classroom

Throughout the week, children will take part in a paper aeroplane investigation. The focus will
be on encouraging curiosity, with children leading their own learning by:
- Asking questions
- Making predictions
- Testing their ideas
- Exploring different ways to improve their designs

Curiosity in Action

Year 6 children will also be leading a series of Curiosity Stations, giving children across school the chance to explore different hands-on activities.

End of Week Celebration

To finish the week, we’ll be celebrating everything the children have explored with a special assembly on Friday.

We’re really excited to see where the children’s curiosity takes them and hope they enjoy a week full of wondering, investigating and discovering!

💛 Wear Yellow for Cystic Fibrosis – Friday 12th June 💛

Next Friday, we’ll be supporting Cystic Fibrosis Trust by taking part in a whole-school Wear Yellow Day.

Children are invited to come to school wearing something yellow or all yellow to show their support.

This afternoon, our Year 6 pupils stepped into the ‘boardroom’ for a Dragon’s Den style challenge, pitching their business ideas to secure £30 of start-up investment.

What stood out wasn’t just the creativity of their ideas, but the range of skills on show. Teams had to plan, collaborate and think carefully about their audience. They communicated with clarity, responded to questions on the spot and showed real resilience when challenged. Behind every pitch sat decision-making, budgeting, problem-solving and the confidence to take a risk.

Experiences like this matter. They give our children a chance to apply what they’ve learned in a real context, where there isn’t always a single right answer. They learn how to listen, how to adapt and how to turn an idea into something tangible. These are the skills that stay with them far beyond Year 6.

We’re looking forward to seeing their businesses come to life later this month when the teams begin selling!
