Our Lived Experience Focus Group last week, was an uplifting evening filled with real experiences and inspiring ideas. We finished the evening by reflecting on our journeys and coming up with affirmations that we hoped would resonate with others on the same path. 💫

Today at Rescued Food- along with lots of bread, cakes, lettuce and spuds- we have Angie! She’s the new local Housing Support Link Worker with Carr Gomm and is here to give information about their services. Every Friday for the next wee while pop in to say hi and get more information… the reality is, for many people, they are only two pay packets away from homelessness. Early help can stop a crisis before it happens- feel free to pop in and say hi to see what’s available for you or anyone else you feel could benefit 😁
Check the link in the comments for details of a survey, where you can add your experiences and help to develop future systems of support 👍

After a successful campaign by CCPS supported by social care providers like Carr Gomm, the Scottish Government has now returned the £19million that providers need to pay their Support Practitioners the Real Living Wage.

Yet the Real Living Wage is still insufficient. It does not respect our trained and registered staff, who are still paid less than staff in the NHS and local authorities doing equal work.

We expect a social care system to act as scaffolding in our society – for skilled workers to be ready to support us and our loved ones to live well in our own homes, when we need it. But the Real Living Wage does not reflect the importance and skill of the role of social care workers in Scotland.

Carr Gomm’s commitment to providing quality person-centred social care support to people in Scotland remains. And we will continue to call on the Scottish Government to match that commitment by making better choices.
