Behind the Dial!
An extremely rare, recently restored, Paris movement showing the verge escapement and all the strike mechanism on the the backplate instead of behind the dial which is more common.

Clocks are full of unexpected finds! Today we have previous repairs - the gut is a fishing line and dial is attached with paper clips! A couple of the many faults that we are happy to rectify in our workshop. www.rutlandclocks.co.uk

For more than thirty years Rutland Clocks has been repairing, restoring and conserving 17th, 18th and 19th Century antique English and French clocks.
Our work is very varied and includes longcase grandfather clocks, bracket clocks and mantel clocks, dial clocks and tavern wall clocks and also French mantel clocks and carriage clocks.
We collect and repair clocks from the East Midlands including Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire as well as further afield by arrangement. During the current restrictions we are able to collect from your door or you can bring your clock to our door! Please telephone or email for details.

Behind the Dial!
This clock by J. Wilkins, Loughborough (circa 1765) had been abandoned for about forty years and has now been cleaned and restored to its former glory and will be loved once again.

Behind The Dial!

Clocks, like cars, need servicing when they have done a certain mileage. Clocks reach this mileage after about ten years and then will require a clean and the oil replacing to keep them in perfect running order and to prevent undue wear on the metal bearings. Here at Rutland Clocks we are busy looking after all sorts of clocks - longcase clocks, mantel clocks, wall clocks and carriage clocks to mention a few. Rutland Clocks are able to 'work from home' during this difficult time. We can accept portable clocks such as carriage clocks, table clocks and mantel clocks which we can collect at your door or they can be brought to our door.
We are not able to service longcase or wall clocks with pendulums at present but as soon as we can we will be able to help you.
