Now the weather is starting to turn cooler and as part of Chimney Fire Safety week - 7th -13th September, we at Warwickshire Fire & Rescue want to encourage those who use Chimneys and Log burners in their homes to think about getting them ready for the winter by having them swept to ensure no unwanted chimney fires can happen.
It’s ! Get your chimney swept before the colder
weather sweeps in so you’re ready for those cosy nights by the
fire.

5:00pm Thursday 13 August. Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service have declared a major incident due to a large fire in Salford Priors. There is a large emergency presence in the area and we continue to advise residents nearby to close all doors and windows. Please stay away from the area. Our control room is receiving a large number of calls, so please contact us only in a genuine emergency.
It's imperative that residents take all steps to reduce any fire risk. Please read advice on our social media channels about fire and water safety. You can make all the difference.

Warwickshire is once again experiencing another heatwave with heat health warnings in place. During hot weather, water-related incidents increase and it's especially important to remind children and young people of the dangers of entering water, there are often hidden risks such as cold-water shock or currents.
Would your child know what to do if they found themselves in a dangerous situation? 🆘 Show them this video and teach them the ‘Float to Live' technique. It could save their life one day!

🐾Dog rescue success for Red watch Nuneaton

Crews were called after a Labrador had fallen approximately 6 feet into a water filled ditch and was unable to climb back out. On arrival, firefighters assessed the situation and deployed water rescue equipment along with a triple extension ladder to gain safe access to the trapped dog. 

Working carefully and calmly, firefighters reached the Labrador, secured him safely, and successfully rescued him from the ditch before reuniting him with his relieved owners. 

A fantastic effort by the crew, demonstrating how the skills and equipment used to protect our communities can also make a real difference when our four legged friends find themselves in difficulty.

Help protect our open spaces:
Fully extinguish ci******es and matches.
Take all litter home (especially glass)
We discourage the use of disposable BBQ’s but if you are using one keep them off dry grass and vegetation and dispose of ashes safely only when completely cold.
If you discover a fire, call 999 immediately.

🚨 INCIDENT - FLAT FIRE 🚨

​Red Watch have returned from a Flat fire in Nuneaton with crews from Bedworth and Atherstone Fire Station.
​
​We were called to a property where an air fryer had been left on top of a cooking hob which was accidentally turned on. The Air fryer subsequently caught fire, filling the flat with thick, toxic smoke.

​Thankfully no one was in the property at the time.

​Our Advice to You
​✅ NEVER leave objects on or near cookers.

✅ ALWAYS turn your cooker off at the mains when not in use to prevent accidentally turning it on.
✅ ALWAYS keep cooking surfaces clean, clear and free from flammable products.

✅ALWAYS keep your doors closed to slow the spread of the fire and reduce any smoke damage

✅ TEST your smoke alarms weekly.

Following a recent Safe and Well Check, it has come to our attention that not all properties within Coniston Court are fitted with hard-wired smoke detection systems.
Early warning of fire is essential and can provide valuable time for residents to evacuate safely in the event of a fire.
Nuneaton Fire Station will be carrying out a community engagement visit and will be available to:

Provide on-the-spot Safe and Well Checks
Book appointments for future Safe and Well Checks
Offer free fire safety advice
Supply and fit free smoke detectors where appropriate👩‍🚒🧑‍🚒👩‍🚒🧑‍🚒🚒🚨🏡

We plan to attend at approximately 14:30 hrs on Saturday 4 July, subject to operational commitments.
If you are not available when we call, please do not worry. We will leave information through your letterbox, including our contact details, so that you can arrange a visit at a more convenient time.
