Incident Update: Witherley Bungalow Fire 🚒⚡Early this morning at 3:45 AM, Nuneaton’s White Watch and Polesworth and Leicestershire Fire crews responded to a bungalow fire in Orchard Close, Witherley, Leicestershire, following a direct lightning strike. The incident was originally mobilized with persons reported. Upon arrival, crews confirmed that thankfully everyone had managed to exit the properties safely.

Firefighters wearing Breathing Apparatus (BA) quickly entered the structure with a ladder to access the roof space, deploying a hose reel jet to battle the spreading fire.Due to the intensity of the flames bursting through the roof, crews had to be withdrawn. Efforts were immediately redirected to the neighbouring property, successfully stopping the fire from spreading to the adjacent bungalow. Crews from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service remain on the scene to monitor the area and damp down remaining hotspots.

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service extends its heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of those affected following the tragic incident at Kingsbury Water Park on Monday 25 May.
We recognise the impact this will have on the local community, and our thoughts remain with everyone affected at this very difficult time.

As we move into the warmer months, we encourage everyone to stay safe when spending time outdoors. Open water can present a range of hidden risks, even in good weather, so it’s important to take care and be aware of your surroundings. Please follow any local safety guidance when near water.

If you see someone in difficulty in the water:
Call 999 immediately
Encourage the person to float on their back
Avoid entering the water yourself - look for something you can use to help from the shore such as a throw line.

Honouring the Sacrifice of Firefighter Ernest J. Ebury 🌹
Today marks exactly 85 years since the death in service of Firefighter Ernest J. Ebury, who made the ultimate sacrifice during World War II.
On the night of 17 May 1941, Nuneaton suffered its infamous "Great Blitz." German Luftwaffe bombers heavily targeted the town centre, dropping high-explosive bombs that reduced the local Co-operative store on Edward and Henry Street to rubble. Firefighter Ebury was killed while bravely facing this devastation to protect his community.
Though many years have passed, time does not dim our gratitude. Today, we stand together to remember and honour the courage, dedication, and ultimate sacrifice of Firefighter Ebury. We will never forget.
