Colwick Woods Conservation Group

Colwick Woods Conservation Group Colwick Woods Conservation Group is a continuation of part of the Friends of Colwick Woods group formed by local residents in April 2004.

A community nature conservation group working with Nottingham City Council and the wider community to maintain, protect and enhance Colwick Woods Nature Reserve and connected areas. We are the now separate conservation section of Friends of Colwick Woods and we continue all our usual work looking after, promoting and protecting the site together with Nottingham City Council and all other groups in

volved with the site. The aim of the group is to protect, enhance and promote Colwick Woods as an important resource for the benefit of the community and its natural habitats. We carry out essential practical work with volunteers including litter-picks, tree planting, path maintenance, habitat improvement, woodland projects, species monitoring, safety improvements and a wide range of educational activities.

If we can make green energy cheaper it will reduce pollution, reduce energy prices, reduce climate change and benefit Colwick Woods and the whole planet. Signing this petition will help towards that.

It’s time to cap the greed, cut the fees, and cut your energy bills.

TRAVELLERS ON THE FIELD - Update.
They gained access past the white gate next to the playground. The gap has now been blocked with a pile of soil by the council. The travellers have been served an initial notice and Community Protection will be dealing with the necessary process to evict them from site. Most of the travellers have left. Thanks to the police and Nottingham City Council who responded quickly after we called them on Sunday.
A few were aggressive and threatening towards residents and onlookers when they were queuing to get on the site. There were safety issues with dogs running at people barking, kids going around on motor bikes fast and some litter. They didn't cause any harm to the habitats or wildlife and some of them were friendly.

Aggressive dog on Colwick Woods. 17th May. Greenwood Road area.
Does anyone know the identity of a man with a sandy Bulldog and a St Bernard who walks on that part of Colwick woods? (Please message with details for us to pass on to the injured dog's owner rather than post. This isn't a public humiliation site when we do not know or can judge the circumstances).
The Bulldog attacked another walker's Dachshund making a large hole in its leg requiring going to the vets which was very distressing for the owner. Has anyone had a similar experience as the guy said the dog had done it before?

Badger killed near Greenwood Road. WARNING photo below may be distressing to see.
We are collating evidence, looking for CCTV coverage etc and police are aware. Happily this is very rare on the nature reserve and a big thank you to all those who keep their dogs under control.
