THE RIVERSIDE AND RADCLIFFE’S LILY PONDS – A GUIDED WALK ON SATURDAY, MAY 30TH
Meet Phillip Taylor at 2 p.m. by Rockley Park entrance gates (top of Park Road) for a walk around this Local Wildlife Site. Find out more about the site, its history and its flora and fauna and how it is currently being managed by the community Nature Conservation Group with input from other wildlife organisations in partnership with Radcliffe Parish Council.
This walk is free and open to all and is part of Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust’s ‘Out and About with Wildlife Programme 2026’. No booking is required. The walk is expected to last around an hour and a half. Please note that access to the riverside is via a long set of steps from the Cliff Walk so a reasonable level of fitness and appropriate footwear is required. Please consider bringing a drink with you (plus sunhat!), especially if the weather is warm.
For further information, please contact Phillip Taylor via the following email address, [email protected]
About Radcliffe Nature Conservation Group.
We are a small community group of Radcliffe residents, established for over ten years, who are involved in practical conservation work both at the Riverside / Lily Ponds and at Dewberry Hill. Our work involves tree planting and maintenance, mowing/cutting back of minor paths by the river and some areas around the
benches, organising scrub clearance and doing survey work on Dewberry Hill. We also work in conjunction with Rushcliffe Borough Council, the Parish Council and other environmental and wildlife organisations (Notts. Bat Group, South Notts.
Ringing Group, Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, the Environment Agency) on a variety of associated projects to help manage our two Local Wildlife Sites in accordance with agreed Five Year Plans.
In order to continue this valuable programme of work, we need to strengthen our group for the future by recruiting more volunteers. If you’re reasonably fit and active, enjoy working outdoors and can spare a couple of hours mid-week, we’d love to hear from you (contact details – email address above). Membership is free, most tools are provided and we currently meet most Wednesday mornings at 09.30.
