Our neighbourhood officers visited a local school to remind new and learner drivers about the potential risks of life on the roads.

PC Gerard Masaoy and PCSO Amy Tinkler attended Eastwood Academy on Friday 5 June to speak with sixth form students about the Fatal 4 – speeding, mobile phone use, driving under the influence, and not wearing a seatbelt.

The duo, based at Eastwood Police Station on Nottingham Road, are delivering a series of talks and practical demonstrations to young people over the summer months.

In addition to general road safety advice, the sessions also include instruction on what to do in the event of a road traffic collision.

PC Masaoy said: “We know that young drivers are at increased risk of being involved in serious collisions – partly because of their inexperience and partly because of an increased appetite for risk.

“We also know that more and more younger drivers are now using their cars to earn money in the gig economy, which increases the risks further.

“These sessions are about talking through those risks and explaining some of the everyday consequences of breaking the law behind the wheel – such as the revocation of a young driver’s licence after accumulating six points.

“As neighbourhood officers, this kind of engagement and education is a core part of our work, and I am looking forward to delivering many more sessions in the future.”

Two children have been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a road traffic collision in Aspley.

Emergency services were called to Grannis Drive at 3.50pm today (Friday) after a collision involving a large car and the children.

The boys, both aged 12, are being treated in hospital

The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and is helping officers with their inquiries.

No arrests have been made.

Detective Sergeant Paul Clark, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:

"This was a very serious and distressing incident, and our thoughts are with the injured children and their families.

"As we work to understand exactly what happened in the moments leading up to this collision, we'd like to speak with everyone who saw or heard what happened."

Anyone with information should call 101 and quote incident 525 of 19 June 2026.

A bungalow in Eastwood has been closed after it became a magnet for drug-related crime and antisocial behaviour.

The address, in South Street, has been monitored by our officers for more than a year – with a significant spike in reports over the last few months.

It is believed the address had been taken over by dealers and had become an increasingly important part of the local drug trade after warrants were executed at two addresses in Manor Road.

Over the last few months, we have been conducting regular patrols in the area and have received multiple calls about drug dealing and antisocial behaviour linked to the address.

A closure order has now been granted by Nottingham Magistrates’ Court, which prohibits anyone from entering the property for a period of three months and allows time for the landlord to re-let it.

The previous tenant has now been removed from the address.

If any individual breaches the order, they will be committing an offence and may be liable to imprisonment and/or a fine.

Sergeant Simon Boyles, of our Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We have been working hard to disrupt the activities of a group of local drug dealers and have executed search warrants at several local addresses.

"We had been watching this address for some time, and it soon became clear to us that a significant portion of the local drug trade had relocated to this property.

"As a result, it had become a magnet for crime and antisocial behaviour and was being frequented by several individuals who are well known to us.

"While our criminal investigations remain ongoing, we have worked with our partners at Broxtowe District Council to take decisive action to protect local residents from harm.”

A project aimed at improving the response to spiking reports by increasing victims' accessibility to testing kits has been extended to cover the World Cup football tournament.

We’re one of three forces taking part in a pilot project, named Project Alliance, which is being led by the National Centre for Violence Against Women and Girls and Public Protection (NCVPP).

We already know spiking is underreported to us, but we still want victims to come forward for testing, even if they don’t want a criminal justice outcome.

As part of this initiative, spiking victims can now access multi-drug urine testing kits which are available from specific local hospitals and health centres, not just from the police, giving them more options for support.

The test will detect and identify known substances people may have been spiked with.

There is also information provided on how to use these testing kits which will be available during the pilot which was initially launched in March and has since been extended until 31 July 2026.

So far, we've received 42 reports of spiking since the pilot project was launched.

DCI Chris Berryman, our spiking lead, said: “The pilot has gone well from a police perspective. We want to make testing more accessible and remove some of the stigma of reporting crime.

"We want victims to feel they are able to report incidents to us as well as making them more aware of spiking and the support available to them.

“If you believe you have been spiked, please come forward and report it to us.

"The sooner it is reported, the better the chance we have of identifying offenders and stopping them from harming others.

“You will be listened to and taken seriously. We’re here to support you and help you get the answers you need.”

Potential spiking victims can report an incident or find out more information by calling us on 101 or reporting online here: https://orlo.uk/Qmeu3

Two men have been jailed after a man was confronted in his own home by masked burglars.

The victim was at home in Canterbury Close, Nuthall, on the evening of 25 June last year when three men smashed their way in wearing gloves and balaclavas.

Spotting that at least one of the intruders was wielding a hammer, the victim fled the address by jumping out of an upstairs window – breaking his leg in the process.

The intruders – John McNee, Craig Morgan and another man– then tried and failed to steal a high value vehicle on the driveway.

They eventually fled the scene with ÂŁ500 in cash and a mobile phone.

McNee and Morgan were identified from CCTV footage and mobile phone data that linked them all to the local area.

They were also linked to a stolen car used in the commission of the offence, which had travelled in convoy with a car registered to John McNee, who admitted to carrying a knife to the scene.

Damningly, we also recovered CCTV footage from McNee's home address showing both men together immediately before and after the break-in.

McNee, 46, of Tunstall Crescent, Nottingham, and Morgan, 53, of Lymn Avenue, Gedling, both pleaded guilty to burglary.

A third suspect in the case was charged but not convicted in connection with the case.

In addition, McNee also pleaded guilty to intimidating a witness after phoning a relative of the victim after the offence, and to another burglary in Nottingham city centre in September 2023.

Appearing at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday, McNee and Morgan were jailed for nine and five years respectively.

Detective Constable Tony Tonks said: "This was a frightening experience for the victim who was simply going about his daily business when he was confronted in his own home by masked men.

"Both thought they could simply take what they wanted from this man without consequence, but hadn’t reckoned on the determination of multiple detectives, analysts and other specialist staff at Nottinghamshire Police.

"Together they were able not only to unmask these men, but to build an utterly compelling case against them that have led to these sentences."

We are appealing for witnesses after a teenager was assaulted in a gym.

The boy was using a machine at Cinderhill Gym in Nottingham when he was approached by a black man who reportedly asked to use the equipment he was working on.

The victim was thrown to the floor after the man grabbed him by the throat.

The incident happened around 7pm on 13 May 2026.

We have carried out lines of inquiry to identify the man, including inquiries with the gym and checking for any CCTV opportunities.

To help our officers with their investigation, we are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident in the gym to contact them.

PC Aaron Harthill-Harrison said: “Violent behaviour of this kind will not be tolerated.

"This incident has caused the victim to lose confidence in going to the gym.

"Everyone deserves to feel safe when exercising, not to feel apprehensive of other's actions."

Anyone who has any information which could help police trace the man responsible is urged to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting crime occurrence 26000288439, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

We’re currently seeing an increase in calls about general noise, such as loud music, garden gatherings, or neighbour disturbances. While we understand these situations can be frustrating, many noise concerns are not police matters and are usually best dealt with by your local council.

Your local council’s environmental health team has the powers to assess and take action where needed.

There are some circumstances where police involvement may be necessary, such as if noise is linked to anti-social behaviour in a public place, or if there is evidence of crime or an immediate risk to safety.

By contacting the right service first, you can help ensure your issue is resolved more quickly and keep the 101 and 999 lines free for those who need them most.
