We have arrested another suspect in connection with a stabbing in Bestwood last month.
An investigation has been underway ever since a man suffered multiple slash wounds, near Sandy Banks Nature Reserve.
The victim was attacked with bladed weapons as he walked along Bembridge Drive towards the entrance to the park, around 7.10pm on 7 August.
Neighbourhood officers came to his aid after spotting him while out on patrol, with the man then receiving treatment for injuries to his chest, back and legs.
Three arrests were made in the days after the attack, with extensive inquiries in the weeks since resulting in a fourth suspect being arrested on Wednesday (2 September) afternoon.
That's after our officers attended an address in Top Valley that they believed to be linked to a suspect, who they then spotted inside and detained in the rear garden when he tried to run away.
The 35-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, as well as possessing with intent to supply Class A drugs when multiple wraps of co***ne were found in a bag he was carrying.
He was also linked to a series of other offences too, including a Mansfield break-in back in June, an assault on a woman in Bestwood, and the discovery of an illegal butterfly knife inside a Bulwell property.
Based on this, he was additionally arrested on suspicion of burglary, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and possessing an offensive weapon in a private place.
A 54-year-old man, a 42-year-old woman and a 15-year-old boy were all previously arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, in connection with the Bestwood stabbing.
Mark Crampton, of Chippenham Road, Bestwood, has since been charged with wounding with intent.
He has been remanded into custody ahead of an appearance at Nottingham Crown Court next Wednesday (9 September).
The 42-year-old woman and 15-year-old boy have meanwhile both been released on conditional bail.
Detective Inspector Stu Barson said: "Our officers have been conducting extensive inquiries in the weeks since this assault and have now managed to arrest a further suspect.
"This news has been shared with the victim, who is still recovering from the attack and who continues to be supported by our specially trained officers.
"While his injuries are thankfully not believed to be life-altering, it really should be emphasised that this was a very serious assault that could've quite easily caused the victim severe harm.
"As such, we’d ask anyone that hasn’t done so already to continue reporting any information they have about this assault to the police, so that we can act on it."
