Your dedication makes a real difference to so many lives every day— thank you.

This Carers Week, we recognise and celebrate the incredible contribution of carers across the country.

In social care, carers play a vital role every day—providing support, compassion, and dignity to those who need it most.

At the National Care Association, we’re proud to stand alongside carers and advocate for the recognition, support, and respect they deserve.

Thank you for everything you do.

A message from the Norfolk Care Careers Team at Norfolk County Council

The Training2Care Virtual Dementia Tour Bus is coming to Norfolk this June and July, offering an interactive and immersive learning experience for the Norfolk and Waveney Adult Social Care workforce.

Using sensory and deprivation aids, this hands-on session helps simulate some of the challenges faced by people living with dementia. It provides valuable insight into behaviours, needs and the lived experience of dementia, helping to strengthen understanding and improve care practice.

We strongly encourage all providers to take advantage of this opportunity to build empathy, enhance practice and improve the quality of dementia care across our region.

Sessions are available across Norfolk between 1st June and 3rd July, with morning and afternoon bookings available at:

• Thetford – 1st–5th June
• Great Yarmouth – 8th–12th June
• North Walsham – 15th–19th June
• King’s Lynn – 22nd–26th June
• Norwich – 29th–30th June and 1st & 3rd July

Places are filling quickly, so we recommend booking as soon as possible to avoid missing out. We initially limited bookings to two spaces per provider, per location, but we’re now able to relax this and offer additional places where availability allows.

Book your place here:

Sarah Rank, Head of Business Partnering at Norfolk County Council, described the experience as “important and powerful”, helping her better understand the sensory challenges faced by people with dementia.

Public Experience Days
Feedback also highlighted the benefits of promoting public awareness to support family members with their understanding, therefore we are also pleased to make the bus available over five free public drop-in days during week commencing the 6th July, in five market towns across Norfolk, so please spread the word. No need to book, just pop along!

These free, drop-in days will take place between 10:00am – 1:00pm and 1:30pm – 4.30pm in the following Norfolk locations:

6th July – King’s Lynn Market Place
7th July – Thetford, Market Place

The Training2Care Virtual Dementia Tour Bus arrives in Norfolk this June and July!

In response to insights gathered from the annual training survey conducted by Norfolk and Suffolk Care Support, and follow up discussions with Registered Managers, the Norfolk Care Careers team is pleased to offer additional dementia care learning opportunities for the Norfolk and Waveney Adult Social Care workforce.

The Virtual Dementia Tour Bus is equipped with a range of sensory tools and deprivation aids, supported by clear instructions and guided facilitation. This unique, hands on experience enables participants to gain first hand insight into the behaviours, challenges and needs of people living with dementia.

We encourage all providers to take advantage of this opportunity to strengthen empathy, enhance practice, and improve the quality of dementia care across our region.
