Today we are introducing one of our most experienced celebrant registrars, Natalie. She is a natural in the role, with a sparkling smile & plenty of advice for couples. Read on to get to know her a little better…
🔸How long have you been working in Norfolk as a celebrant registrar?🔸
I have had the privilege of being in the Registration Service for 26 years. I started out in Essex then moved to Kent then started working with Norfolk Registration Service 13 years ago.
🔸What is your most memorable ceremony?🔸
My most memorable ceremony was when the bride wanted to arrive at their wedding on their horse. The day was a typical English rainy day. We managed to do the ceremony in between the monsoon conditions, and the bride was able to arrive on horseback, which was fulfilling her dream.
🔸What is your favourite part of the job?🔸
I love meeting people and having the honour and privilege to be able to take part in the couple’s special day, plus being able to put people at ease and to take their nerves and worries away too.
🔸What other job or hobbies do you have?🔸
I work part time with new British Citizen’s, taking them from their citizenship ceremony all the way through to them receiving their certificate. I also love knitting and sewing. I get immense joy of seeing a garment that I have knitted being worn by someone and them loving it!
🔸What would be your top tip for couples who have a ceremony booked?🔸
Personalise your ceremony as much as you can - the ceremony is about both of you as a couple. For example, mention how you met, how long it has taken you to get to this day and how long you have been together. We as celebrant registrars are always happy to read this out as part of your ceremony. Ultimately try to relax and enjoy the day as it goes by in a flash.
