Former Mayor Sir Joseph Paine (JP to you and me) is off on holiday during the roofing works. He is also going to return with some new glass to peer out through. This glass will be non-reflective so we can also peer back.

Two things from us this evening. Firstly, our garden will be closed from 3pm tomorrow as we welcome in to rehearse Shakespeare in the Garden. Before that though we are filling the space with the sound of music with SqueezEast Concertinas performing from 1.30....although that may happen in the Undercroft 🦆☂⛈🌧🦆

Well, this is it everyone. Last chance to see us before we get our new lid. We will be closed until later in 2027 after Saturday this week. Don't forget that we are also open on Thursdays and Fridays during the holidays if you can't make Saturday to wish the dear old place good luck with its surgery.

As we approach our last week open until we close for our reroofing works from 1st September until later in 2027, why not say 'see you later' to the dear old place by coming along to one of our House Tours? It's the last tour for a while, this Saturday. Tickets are still available on the 11am tour.

If you pop into Strangers’ Hall, you may see us scurrying around as we prepare the museum behind the scenes for re-roofing works. These beautifully empty shelves in Store 6 had to go somewhere and Sal has the task of making sure the new locations for the objects are all up to date on our collections database.

From 1st September, we will be closed to the public and this is when we will start to take down large pictures and clear the rooms of furniture. Strangers’ Hall will then remain closed until 2027, so make sure you come and visit us in the next couple of weeks!

We are open Wednesday-Saturday during the school holidays 😊

Love Strangers' Hall or learn to love it by coming on our house tours tomorrow 25th July at 11am, 12 noon and 2pm. Tour costs £5 but do not include admission to the rest of the house. The garden is freeee 😊
