On Saturday 3rd October we have our annual Family Fungi Foray! This wonderful event is ran by the Norfolk Fungus Study Group, who will take us on a foray through the woodlands to search for and identify fungi. This event is great for all the family, and under 16s are free 🍄

Last Saturday we hosted our Moth Night event, supported by the amazing Norfolk Moth Group. We were very busy and despite a lack of moths due to cold weather we hope everyone still enjoyed. The fantastic trappers used a range of moth trap styles and some sugaring on nearby trees to attract as many species as possible. We are very grateful to the trappers for volunteering their time to teach our visitors all about the wonders of moths.

The Summer Path at Wheatfen is a bit bouncier this week. Our amazing volunteers have been clearing one of our summer fen cuts onto the path to keep the mud at bay. Hopefully this will keep our seasonal path through the fen by the river open that bit longer 🤞

Last Sunday was our last Large Marsh Grasshopper release for the year! 🦗

Massive thanks to Citizen Zoo who lead the reintroduction program and all the wonderful Citizen keepers that have raised grasshoppers in multiple heatwaves, making collecting enough grass for them very challenging! Hopefully the population is now strong enough to persist without any more help from us 🤞

This Saturday is our Moth Night! This will be a busy event, so please follow volunteer instructions when you arrive. We have sold out, but if you missed out on a ticket keep your eyes peeled on our socials for our best finds!

Agenda:
🛻 Park up in our car park or down The Covey as instructed by volunteers
💬 Explore the moth trap locations with a tour from our Trainee Warden Emily at 8.30pm
☕ Enjoy a refreshment break at 9.30pm
