We are pleased to advise that the Planning Appeal by Gladman developments for 98 Houses on Burgate Lane has been dismissed by the Planning Inspectorate. Amongst other reasons for dismissal, the Inspector quoted the application being contrary to Neighbourhood Plan policies 4 and 8 (Housing Location and Landscape respectively) and policy 7 (trees and hedgerows). We'd like to again thank everyone who voted for the Neighbourhood plan as it now forms an equal part of the development plan and is being used to determine planning applications in the village. And the final part of the Neighbourhood Plan is in place! At last nights' meeting of South Norfolk Council, full council unanimously agreed that the Neighbourhood Plan should form part of the development plan for Poringland. It’s been a long day (and night), but the count has been completed and the Neighbourhood Plan has been approved by the electorate of Poringland. Councillors John Henson and John Joyce represented the Parish Council at the count - thank you to everyone who engaged in the process!

Its been a great week for the Neighbourhood Plan. Our two public events were really well attended, with some good enthusiasm for the plan and the referendum. Thank you to everyone who took time out of their day to join us at our Neighbourhood Plan event. We were very busy with lots of people wanting to find out more about the plan and the referendum on 8th July. Information on the Poringland Neighbourhood Plan, drop in events and the all important referendum date of 8th July is being delivered to households in Poringland. Look out for yours!

A date of 8th July has been set for the referendum for the Poringland Neighbourhood Plan. All Poringland electors will have the chance to have their say on whether the Neighbourhood Plan can be used by South Norfolk Council to help decide planning applications in Poringland. A lot of work has gone into the Neighbourhood Plan since we started the project in 2018. Numerous consultations have been held and and it has taken some time to translate the wishes of the village into tangible planning policies that, if it is so wished, can be used to determine planning applications in Poringland.
We are holding two events that will help explain the Neighbourhood Plan, its policies and the referendum process. Both events are drop-in events at Poringland Community Centre, so feel free to pop in at a time that suits you. The dates are:

Wednesday 23rd June
10am - 1pm

Thursday 24th June
3pm - 7pm

Members of the Neighbourhood Plan team will be onsite to answer any questions you may have. But if you cannot make these events, please don't hesitate to contact us on 01508 492182 or email [email protected]

The formal decision notice on the Neighbourhood Plan. Whilst its not quite past the finish line, we think this quote is great:
"In the meantime, however, the Government has also stated that where a local planning authority has made a decision detailing its intention to send a Neighbourhood Plan to referendum (as in this case), that plan can be given significant weight in decision-making, so far as the plan is material to the planning application being considered" :) :) :)
