What a lovely visit this was. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting these amazing young carers and seeing some of the good work The Benjamin Foundation does in giving them some downtime from the responsiblitites of looking after their family members. Myself and the Sheriff have choosen The Benjamin Foundation as our Civic Charity for the term of our office.

We were so pleased to be able to welcome Mr Freeman and the family of the late Mr Carman to Norwich City Hall on Tuesday. Both these men were witnesses to the nuclear testing in the Pacific in 1957 and carried the legacy of that in their everyday lives. We were able to hear their stories and to pass on the Nuclear Test Medals they have received on behalf of all of us in heartfelt gratitude and sympathy for what was experienced by so many in the armed forces during that time.

Lord Mayor Cllr Vivien Thomas today marked the awarding of two Nuclear Test Medals – to surviving veteran David Freeman and the family of the late Robert Carman. Both servicemen witnessed the nuclear testing on Christmas Island in 1957 – see the full story at https://bit.ly/3U9AGJK

Handing over to the new Lord Mayor in just under 30 minutes. The Sheriff Hat and I have had a fantastic year, and wish Vivien Thomas all the best for her year in office.

Yesterday evening was the first (and last) time this civic year that I have been able to get out onto the river as Admiral of the Wensum. Thanks very much to the Sea Cadets - The Sheriff Hat and I had a great time piloting Dory!

Yesterday I took on my regular role as Run Director at Eaton junior parkrun, but with the added twist of being in full mayoral robes as I presented our first ever junior to take part 250 times with his certificate and wristband.

March saw the Duke of Gloucester visit St Martins Housing Trust to open their office, the annual Court of Mayoralty welcoming new Norwich Freeman, the Norfolk WI AGM with Janet Street-Porter, and meeting with the Romanian Consul General.

The was also the thought provoking performance of The Great Stink at Norwich Theatre, a chance for a visit to watch Norwich City Women FC at Carrow Road, the Round Table No1 Annual Dinner, and opening of GROUNDED COFFEE BAR, a new coffee shop on Unthank Road.

Finally we had the Commonwealth Flag Raising ceremony at City Hall, and an presentation of prizes for a Rotary Club of Norwich St Edmund organised art competition at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
