BIG NEWS! We have just announced two paid work placements for this summer. If you're aged 18 - 25, and stuck in the vicious cycle of looking for a role, but not yet having any experience, these short placements could be ideal - especially if you're aiming for a career in conservation! The placements will be in an area of woodland, and you'll be doing physically demanding work, so you'll need a proficient level of fitness and mobility. You don't have to have any experience though - we'll teach you what you need for the week. What we're looking for is enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn. If that sounds like you, check the Vacancies page on our website at www.cotswolds-nl.org.uk. The first placement is 29 June - 3 July. Details of the second week are coming soon.

It's International Dark Sky week! If the clouds shift, and there's a clear night sky above you this weekend, why not look up and see what you can see? Star gazing is good for the mind, body and soul! And dark skies are great for wildlife - think bats and bugs and moths! For more info about the wonders of the night sky, visit https://idsw.darksky.org/ . And if you're looking for ways to minimise nighttime light pollution around your home or workplace, remember we published some technical guidance on just that in the Our Work section of our website at www.cotswolds-nl.org.uk

We're recruiting! The Farming in Protected Landscapes programme has been a roaring success in the Cotswolds, thanks to the amazing community of farmers and landowners here; and to our hard working FiPL team at CNL.

We're currently looking for a Farming Engagement Officer to join our FiPL team to help support this fantastic funding programme through the next three years.

The programme helps support farmers with projects that benefit nature, climate, people, and place. Since the programme launched in 2021, £5.7million has been allocated in FiPL grants across the Cotswolds, supporting 219 projects, collectively worth over £10 million. Supported projects in the Cotswolds are really varied, from on-farm vending machines, to large-scale nature recovery, to regenerative agriculture, to farm education projects.

If you are curious about playing a part in this success story, full details about the role and how to apply can be found here: https://www.cotswolds-nl.org.uk/about-cotswolds-nl/vacancies/

Thanks to the support of our local business members and The National Lottery Heritage Fund, we are delighted to announce that this month, we have awarded grants to the value of £16,000 supporting five new projects under our Caring for the Cotswolds scheme....
Under our Nature theme, our grantees will be helping birds and pollinators to flourish by restoring habitat at two diverse locations: Wolds End Orchard and at the Shorncote Reedbeds Nature Reserve within the Cotswold Lakes.
Under our Community theme, mental health charity, Headspace, will be transforming an overgrown allotment into a learning environment in Bourton-on-the-Water to deliver sessions for children and young people; while Common Soil, a community farm near Stroud, will be offering food growing and outdoor cookery sessions to engage migrants, refugees and asylum seekers. And finally, Withington Village Hall will be working to re-open a permissive path that has been closed for public safety due to the dieback of ash trees.

We are delighted to be supporting these projects and we want to support more! We welcome applications from non-profit organisations for grants of £500 to £5,000 to support grassroots projects.
We're accepting applications year-round and review them four times a year. Our next deadline is 12 April 2026!

This event sold out last year, and tickets for this year are already selling fast!

The Cotswolds is a hotbed of activity for regenerative agriculture, and for the second year running, the conference team is inviting anyone with an interest to gather together to knowledge share, and hear from experienced speakers. This year's conference focuses on the people, ideas, and collaborations needed to advance regenerative farming, and how we nurture the Regen Generation.
