Happy international day of play!

“Play is often talked about as if it is a relief from serious learning. But, play IS serious learning”

We are lucky enough to witness children learn through play daily, and see them develop ideas with peers becoming curious independent learners. “Play is not only our creative drive; it’s a fundamental mode of learning”

🐝 Happy World Bee Day! 🐝

Today we have been exploring the important role bees play in our world. The children enjoyed exploring honeycomb, tasting delicious honey, and discovering how busy bees work together to make it!
We also made lots of different bee artwork and took part in some bee and honey sensory play 🍯

🎈 Happy Birthday Sir David Attenborough 🎈

“If children don’t grow up knowing about nature and appreciating it, they will not understand it and if they don’t understand it, they won’t protect it. If they don’t, who will?”

The children have loved celebrating Sir David Attenborough today and looking at all the amazing things he has achieved in his life! We all discussed our favourite animals and loved our safari picnic lunch.

“No one will protect what they don’t care about, and no will care about what they have never experienced”

Over the last couple of weeks we have been learning about polar animals and animals that live in the sea.

The children have loved learning lots of new facts. Did you know sharks don’t have bones?

We have also loved creating our own life size animals including an emperor penguin, hammer head shark and a dolphin! The children loved seeing these animals come to life as they measured themselves against them in height and weight!

🌍 World Earth Day 🌎

Today we have celebrated world earth day, we’ve talked about the planet we live on and what we can do to help look after it and everything that lives there. The children made earth pictures, took part in experiments and even did some baking using what they had learnt to make their cupcakes look like our planet.
