Charity Town Night 2026!

We had an amazing evening, filled with a quiz, auction and challenges, as well as moustache removal, all in aid for our charity for this year; MeningitisNow.

Our theme for this year was emergancy services, flights dressing up as Police, Doctors / Nurses or Firefighters.

NUAS students managed to raise £689 throughout the night!

Well done to everyone who helped to organise this event.

12 students from NUAS had the amazing opportunity to attend serial 1/2 of Ex Alpine Edge, a weeks skiing in Montgenèvre.

All students covering ski foundations courses, 8 completing SF1 and 4 completing SF2, with amazing instructors throughout.

OC Kazhdan who went on Serial 1 said, "Genuinely one of the most exciting trips I’ve been on. Between whiteout runs, button lift battles and chaotic chairlift exits, I learnt progress comes from not comparing yourself and just sending it. The instructors were brilliant throughout!"

A fun-filled intense two weeks that everyone enjoyed to the max!

Over the last two weeks, three NUAS students have had the opportunity to attend a summer vocational attachment (SVA) at RAF Lossiemouth. Over the week, they toured the base, gaining insight into the different squadrons which operate there. It highlighted the different varieties of careers in the RAF , from air operations officers to pilots, and what these personnel do day-to-day.

OC Bradbury who attended said 'It was a very informative week and enjoyed speaking to the officers on the base, many were ex-UAS students. A highlight for me was being able to use the typhoon simulator that the fighter pilots in the RAF use, for their training.'

This is a great example of the sheer variety in activities available to NUAS students. Thank you to RAF Lossiemouth for the week, all the students thoroughly enjoyed the amazing opportunity.

Recently, four NUAS students attended the 6FTS annual symposium at RAF Cranwell.

Five NUAS students have just attended Ex Home Run in Żagań, Poland.

Over the course of the week, they took part in semi-immersive experiences, replicating experiences of RAF prisoners of war in WWII, at the actual location of Staglag Luft III, home to the 'Great escape'. As well as, force development trips and a remembrance service.

OC Ripely, a student who had the opportunity to attend said, "It was a fantastic opportunity, through various tasks and lessons we applied ideas behind Agile Combat Employment (ACE) and how we can learn a lot about adapting the current RAF , from the actions, courage and ingenuity of RAF POW. On top of this, it was a great opportunity to engage with other UAS squadrons and make new long lasting friendships."

Exciting trips and more await on NUAS.

MILESTONE ALERT!

Recently, Officer Cadet Robertson completed his Solo Sector Recce (SSR) sortie, on the Grob Tutor!

This is one of the most significant and impressive milestones in the entire EFT syllabus, as it requires flying the tutor totally solo outside of the circuit, for the first time. Jamie took off from Leeming, flew around the local area, under his own navigation, and then recovered and landed the aircraft.

Such a softie requires a very sound understanding of the syllabus, and is an excellent feat of airmanship and dedication.

When Jamie was asked about his flight, he had this to say: “The sortie was a great experience, one I’ll remember for a long time. It was a great feeling to have reached the solo standard, and I’m excited for the sorties in the future”.

Well done Jamie, good luck for what comes next.
