I am no longer mayor my year of office is over but I'm still a town Councillor so I will keep this page going.
Last night I appeared on calendar news as my favourite place the school crossing at common academy where I've proudly served for 17yrs this time xnd previously for 8 yrs.
It's an important job and teaches children a skill they will use their whole life how to cross roads safely.

Last night we had the ceremony of making our new mayor I'm very happy to wish my friend and a lovely genuine lady Mrs Carol Appleyard as the new mayor of Normanton and wish her all the luck in the world she will be fabulous.
As leaving mayor I was presented with my past mayor medal which is stunning and a bouquet of flowers I did feel a bit emotional but I've hD a fabulous year made some great memories and met some wonderful people who I consider as friends.

Well what a wash out the weather was today but nothing stops Normanton Town Council From putting on a celebration so we moved from a very rainy Altofts to the town hall we still had stalls and the band playing.
Quiz, drawing for the children, coronation chocolates, tea, coffee, juice a few sarnies and sausage rolls biscuits. We got our coronation flags out and sat in comfort in the warm dry town hall and waved the to the the band playing. It turned from a very very wet morning to a lovely enjoyable day all who attended really enjoyed. Well done Donna, carley, Helen, josie for the kitchen duties.

Monday last week I was invited to attend Martin frobisher school to delivery and give out prizes for the Easter colouring competition some very happy and excited children who either got 1st 2nd or 3rd if not they got a certificate and a cream egg.

Wednesday I attended all saints who love me to visit in robes which I love doing the children are so polite and they had a full assembly and proper easter parade with hats biw ties and rven easter gardens very impressive. On Tuesday I attended the funeral of a former mayor of normanton Mrs Mary white.
It was a lovely service and a lovely touch at the end a packet of forget me nots in a little envelope with her name on and year of birth and year of death I think that's a wonderful idea I got home did the school crossing then returned home and planted the seeds .
The family also had a basket of white roses which we all got one and dropped them into her wicker basket coffin which was beautiful .

Yesterday myself and some other councillors attended normanton junior academy school who were hosting the normanton and altofts pyramid meeting which brings together the 9 schools .
It was a very interesting meeting and it was agreed to hold the same on an annual basis.
Listening to the children and what they think is important and what they think about subjects in the community was uplifting these are our future and possibly our future councillors so taking account of their wants and ideas to me is very important and they had some fabulous ideas.
They spoke about ideas to help raise money for the well project ie instead of money for none uniform they could take in food items, hold stalls, have drop offs in school entrances to name a few.
Speed on our roads was a big one and they want more school crossing patrols, (lollipop people)
I found it a very interesting meeting and very helpful.
