Walk Leader Training Opportunity in Crumlin 📢

Walking for All a new community walking programme is offering Walk Leader training in Crumlin next week for people interested in establishing short regular walks in their local area.🚶🏻

As the brighter days roll in, this is a great way to make a difference in your community, meet new people, enjoy the outdoors, and help others get active.

✅ No previous experience required

Local sisters Aislinn and Meagan Joyce have established 'The Maine Walkers' to encourage people of all ages and abilities to get active, meet new people and enjoy the outdoors.

After completing the Council’s Walking for All training programme, Aislinn and Meagan are now leading safe, welcoming and accessible weekly walks around Randalstown, helping local people improve their physical and mental wellbeing while exploring the area.

Join us on Saturday 4 July as we celebrate the Bird of the Borough and discover the fascinating world of swifts.

The RSPB Antrim Local Group will deliver an engaging talk exploring these remarkable birds, why they matter and the challenges they face. Following the talk, take part in a short swift watch at the Ulster Bar Corner, where you'll have the chance to see Antrim Library's Swift Bricks and try spotting some of these incredible aerial visitors for yourself.

Last week, community representatives, local organisations and residents came together to launch a new Borough-wide Community Forum as part of the wider WEAVE initiative. With seven Community Forums already operating across each of the District Electoral Areas (DEAs), this launch provided an inclusive and collaborative space to work together to identify local priorities and help shape the future of their areas. ✨

The Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Henry Cushinan said: “The launch of the Borough-Wide Community Forum is an important milestone in strengthening collaboration and connection across our community and voluntary sector, ensuring local voices continue to play a central role in shaping a more inclusive and connected future for Antrim and Newtownabbey.”

Our OCN NI Level 2 Award in Community Development is bringing people together to build skills, share ideas, and strengthen communities 🌱🤝

From exploring community development principles to understanding group structures and tackling diversity and inequality, participants are gaining practical knowledge they can put into action every day.

It will provide a collaborative space where community voices can be heard, partnerships can be built and collective action can support positive change across the voluntary and community sector. 🙌
