Want a job that you can be proud of? πŸš’

We are recruiting on-call firefighters across County Durham - and no experience is necessary!

Our on-call firefighters are PAID and can be anything from factory workers and farmers to full-time parents and students.

They are continuing with their daily routine until the call comes and they become professional firefighters. πŸ§‘β€πŸš’ πŸ§‘β€πŸš’

More than half of our operational workforce is made up of on-call firefighters who dedicate around 60 to 80 hours a week to be available to attend incidents.

Only individuals aged 17 years and 6 months or older are eligible to apply.

Applicants must live or work within five minutes of an on-call fire station. Training will be provided.

We're looking for on-call firefighters for 13 of our fire stations, with a particular need at Durham, High Handenhold, Stanhope, Middleton-in-Teesdale, Barnard Castle, Crook and Sedgefield.

If you want to make a real difference in the community, we'd love to hear from you!

Some of your local Firefighters are running the Leeds Marathon to raise money and awareness for MND this Sunday!

Joining our runners on the start line in Leeds this Sunday are a team of firefighters donning comedy cow suits! πŸ„

Determined to do something to make a difference, James Bulman is leading the team, as they run in support of his brother in law, Richard Messenger, a dairy farmer who has recently been diagnosed with MND.

Speaking about the challenge, James said:

"Hopefully a herd of inflatable cows doing a marathon will attract people's attention and encourage them to ask why? And hopefully in the near future, we will have a cure for this debilitating illness.
Our motto for the day will be; The bigger the Herd, we will be Heard!"

If you're up in Leeds this Sunday, give them a huge cheer! The team have already raised over £6000 which will go a long way to support those living with motor neurone disease and their families. You can support James and his team here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/james-bulman-1730632535806 🧑
