Two Moors Way

Two Moors Way Two National Parks, two coasts and over 100 miles of breathtaking countryside. The Two Moors Way is an 'off the beaten track' route across Devon.

The Two Moors Way was officially opened on 29th May 1976: more than 100 miles of wonderful walking from Ivybridge on the southern edge of Dartmoor to Lynmouth on the North Devon coast. Follow this 'off the beaten track' route of 102 miles across the south-west peninsula, crossing two spectacular National Parks - Dartmoor and Exmoor - via the rural heart of Devon and part of western Somerset. In 20

04 the TMW was joined to the Erme-Plym Trail to Wembury on the south Devon coast to create a full coast-to-coast route of 117 miles.

Great to see that the bridge at Veet Mill Farm (Drewsteignton, Dartmoor: Stage 6 south to north) has now been cleared of vegetation, and footpath roundels added at either end. Hopefully Dartmoor National Park will replace the Two Moors Way signpost here shortly – it's been missing since 2014! It's an important spot since it's very close to the point where the route leaves the national park and starts to head across Mid Devon.

Two Moors Way walkers please note! We have been advised of a temporary closure (footbridge replacement) on Stage 6 to the west of Colebrooke (just north of the railway line): please see the attached map.
Please share widely so that anyone walking that part of the route this week will know what's going on. Signage on the ground states that 'there is no alternative route', but TMW walkers can bypass the blockage by using the lanes to the east (at their own risk/with care).

Devon and Somerset are incredibly dry, which means one tiny spark from a BBQ or open fire could quickly become a major wildfire.

Please swap a BBQ for a picnic instead 🧺 Our firefighters will be quietly cheering you on from afar.

Thank you for helping to keep our countryside, wildlife and communities safe 💚
