Two Moors Way

Two Moors Way Two National Parks, two coasts and over 100 miles of breathtaking countryside. The Two Moors Way is an 'off the beaten track' route across Devon.

The Two Moors Way was officially opened on 29th May 1976: more than 100 miles of wonderful walking from Ivybridge on the southern edge of Dartmoor to Lynmouth on the North Devon coast. Follow this 'off the beaten track' route of 102 miles across the south-west peninsula, crossing two spectacular National Parks - Dartmoor and Exmoor - via the rural heart of Devon and part of western Somerset. In 20

04 the TMW was joined to the Erme-Plym Trail to Wembury on the south Devon coast to create a full coast-to-coast route of 117 miles.

What a brilliant day we had on Friday, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Two Moors Way! Thank you to the 60+ walkers who walked into Morchard Bishop from north and south and joined invited guests for tea and chat, looked at our memorabilia displays, purchased TMW merchandise and listened to speeches from Kate Ashbrook, Exmoor National Park, Dartmoor National Park and Sue Viccars from the Two Moors Way Association. Thank you to the Beech Hill Community for providing much-needed home-made lemonade to the Witheridge group of walkers; and to Morchard Bishop WI who did us proud when it came to the catering side of things. The huge, wonderful (and delicious) TMW cake was provided by The Cakery in Exeter. We made it onto the BBC online news, and ITV News West Country on Friday evening.

Can you believe it's been 50 years since the Two Moors Way was first created. The team running the project are marking this major milestone with a series of spectacular walks at various spots on the route. Don't miss the one around Drewsteignton!

The walks starts at 10.30 start and finishes about 4.30. You'll be ambling through 11 miles of some of Devon’s most beautiful valleys and woodlands - including Drewston Wood, Fingle Bridge, Whiddon Deer Park, Dogmarsh Bridge, lanes to Rushford Mill, then Two Moors Way back to Dogmarsh Bridge, Hunter’s Tor, Castle Drogo (possible afternoon tea stop), Sharp Tor.
