Combeinteignhead and Parish of Haccombe with Combe

Hello fellow parishioners.
Down at the waterfront at Coombe we are overrun with tiny bugs that seem to have come off the fields after the Rapeseed oil plants were harvested recently.
We think they are Nysius Bugs commonly known as the 'False Chinch bug'
They don't seem to fly or bite, but they are here in their millions. We have seen them over the fields between us on the waterfront and Amelia's flower farm.
We wondered how far they have spread, and does anyone have any experience of their life cycle or any other info'

Update: we know they are also at Sackery and properties at the bottom of the lane by Westborough Farm.

🌿 Village Clean-Up — Let’s Give Our Community a Little TLC! 🌿

Wednesday 22nd July, 6pm.Combeinteignhead Village Car Park.

We’re gathering for a Village Clean-Up and we’d love your help to make our shared spaces look their best. If you can spare a bit of time, come join us for an evening of fresh air, friendly faces, and satisfying “before and after” moments.

We’ll be trimming back foliage, weeding around the village car park and village signs, clearing litter, and generally giving the place a good spruce-up. It’s amazing what a small group of willing hands can achieve — and even better when the whole village gets involved.

🧤 Please bring along:
• Small hand tools (secateurs, trowels, shears)
• Gardening gloves
• Bin bags
• Any other helpful bits you have at home

Every little helps, and you don’t need to be a gardening expert — just enthusiastic!

Let’s come together, tidy up our lovely village, and take pride in the place we call home. See you there! 🌼💪

Parking at Hearn Field There is a small car park serving the daily needs of visitors to Hearn Field. However, for special events such as our annual Bonfire Night celebrations or when we host open air theatre performances, we also open up an area of the field to accommodate more vehicles. Book donations can be dropped off at Hearn Field Pavilion, Thursday 9th - Saturday 11th July, 9:30am - 3pm and plant donations can be dropped off at the same location on Saturday 11th July, 9:30am - 3pm.

🌿📚 Calling all green‑fingered growers and book lovers!

As we get ready for Combe Village Show on Sunday 12th July, we’re looking for donations of plants and books to help stock our much‑loved stalls.

If you have spare seedlings, cuttings, garden plants, or books you’ve enjoyed and are ready to pass on, we’d be so grateful.

Every donation helps raise funds for our community spaces and makes the show even more special.
