đź’ˇOur Heritage Development Officer has been out this week building relationships and gathering stories that will help shape the Rural Heritage of South Armagh. Community connections are at the heart of everything we do.

A huge thank‑you to the Cardinal Tomas O Fiaich Memorial Library & Archive for such a warm welcome and the fascinating conversations. We’re looking forward to future collaboration.

Next up was the Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Heritage Forum in Saintfield, followed by a great tour of the newly opened community project at Windmill Park. An inspiring example of local heritage and community ambition coming together.

⚒️Our Heritage Development Officer had an enjoyable and interesting morning at the HED Conservation works Depot in Moira yesterday.

It was great to get a behind the scenes look at the work being done to preserve our historic buildings and heritage. Seeing the skills of the Blacksmiths, Joiners and Stonemasons up close was impressive. Fascinating to learn about the level of craftsmanship and dedication involved in conservation work.

A big thank you to for organising the visit. We all have greater appreciation for the people and skills that help keep our heritage alive for future generations.

📚 A wonderful evening celebrating South Armagh's history. Thank you to everyone who joined us for the launch of A history of South Armagh from Newspaper Clippings, Vol 3 (1911-1925), compiled by Keiran McConville.

It was fantastic to see such a great turnout and interest in our local heritage. We were delighted to welcome Dr. Eoin Magennis, whose insightful talk "Keeping An Eye On South Armagh" brought to life the role of local newspapers in shaping the history, communities and events of the area during a fascinating period.

The evening highlighted the importance of preserving our local stories and ensuring future generations can continue to learn from the rich history of the area.
