🐝 From Bumble Bee to Queen Bee! 👑

When she first arrived, she was just little Bumble Bee — a tiny 50g hoglet who was extremely dehydrated and weak. It was touch and go, and she went on to battle pneumonia, spending nearly 3 weeks in an incubator recovering and growing 🫶

Along the way, Bumble Bee earned herself the title of Princess Bee… and now she’s graduating as Queen Bee! 👑🐝

She’s fit, healthy and ready to take on the wild. What a journey for this little girl! 🥹💚🌿

130 releases this month and counting! 💚🦔🐾

Meet Johndory, who was admitted with wounds to his forehead and around his front leg. With treatment his wounds have healed brilliantly.

Today, Johndory had his final assessment in our wildlife garden, where he showed us that he is back to full strength, with normal mobility and ready to return to the wild 🙌

This is what we’re all about: rescue, rehabilitation, release 🐾

Anigene has been a trusted part of our biosecurity routine for a long time, and we were absolutely delighted to receive a selection of products from the team at Anigene, owned by Byotrol 💚

With so many hedgehogs and hoglets coming through our doors, maintaining high standards of biosecurity is incredibly important. Anigene is an excellent product for use in a busy wildlife rescue environment, and it’s already our main disinfectant here at Prickles & Paws.

After a bumperJuly of admissions, the start of August has been all about releases with 110 this month already!🦔🌿

Aardvark headed back to the wild after 17 days in our care, having received treatment for internal parasites. Meanwhile, Linnet arrived after being found out during the daytime as a tiny hoglet. After 32 days with us, she has gone from just 132g to an amazing 480g! 💚

Both have now been released with their own nest boxes, along with supportive food and water to help them settle back into the wild.

A huge thank you to Classic Cottages, who kindly sponsor the two outdoor hutches these hedgehogs were recuperating in 🏡🦔
