Please join us in congratulating James Munley on recently passing out as our newest Navigator!

James is already a dedicated member of our lifeboat crew and qualifying as a Navigator requires a huge amount of dedication, training and commitment. It is a highly skilled role, demanding expert knowledge, sound judgement and the ability to operate effectively in challenging conditions to help keep our crews safe while saving lives at sea.

Congratulations, James, on this fantastic achievement and thank you for everything you do for Newquay Lifeboat Station. 👏

Today, we were delighted to welcome RNLI Chief Executive Peter Sparkes to Newquay Lifeboat Station.

During his visit, Peter was given a tour of the station and had the opportunity to meet and speak with our volunteer lifeboat and shore crews. It was a great chance to discuss the future of the RNLI, hear about the experiences of our volunteers, and share the important work being carried out here in Newquay.

Thank you to Peter for taking the time to visit us and for his continued support of RNLI volunteers across the UK and Ireland.

As we come to the end of Volunteer Week, we just want to thank every single volunteer who makes Newquay RNLI what it is.

From our dedicated boat crews who answer the call when people need help most, to our fundraising team who work tirelessly behind the scenes, our shop volunteers who support the RNLI every day, our back office staff, support teams, and everyone who gives their time, skills and energy to help save lives at sea – thank you.

Together we are One Crew.

The RNLI simply couldn’t do what it does without volunteers. Whether you’re launching lifeboats, organising events, serving customers, maintaining equipment, managing administration, or supporting the station in countless other ways, every role plays a vital part in keeping our service running.

Your commitment, passion and generosity make a real difference to our community and to those who find themselves in difficulty on the water.

Thank you for everything you do, not just during Volunteer Week, but throughout the year. We are incredibly proud to have such an amazing team of volunteers here at Newquay RNLI.

Newquay RNLI Lifeboats are saddened to hear of the passing of Elizabeth Carne, one of our cherished fundraising volunteers.

Elizabeth joined the Ladies Lifeboat guild in 2007 alongside her mother Agnes. She has been a loyal and well respected member of the team.

Her commitment to the organisation was evident in her work at events and in the shop.

Elizabeth was a proud Cornish lady with a encyclopaedic knowledge of local history and an expert in the Cornish language and Grand Bard at the Gorsedd.

She has borne her final illness with great courage and will be missed by all members of fundraising and lifeboat crew who knew her.

We send our deepest condolences to her husband Ian, son Richard and mother Agnes.

Pictured are Elizabeth with her son Richard and mother Agnes at the signing of the scroll to celebrate RNLI 200 year anniversary.

As we approach the summer season, please remember, if you’re in trouble in the water, could save your life:

• Tilt your head back with ears submerged
• Relax and try to control your breathing
• Use your hands to help you stay afloat
• It’s OK if your legs sink, we all float differently

Practice floating at as supervised location, such as a swimming pool.

Remember it. Practice it. Share it.
