Isle of Wight Night Shelter

Isle of Wight Night Shelter Andy & Ruth Davis vision to establish a permanent staffed nightshelter on the Isle of Wight.

The Night Shelter will not be open this winter because of a lack of premises, volunteers and personal commitments. Our sincere apologies to all those affected. Andy

We are at Sainsburys Cowes this coming weekend as they have chosen us as their local charity for the coming year, so if you are around in Cowes pop in and see us!

We are really pleased to announce that Sainsburys at Cowes have chosen us as their supported charity this coming year. Thanks Sainsburys! More details will follow.

Hi everyone,
Wow! We have received so many donations of toiletries. Thank you so much to everyone who has brought us supplies.
Now I need to ask you all to be generous again. We need men's clothing please. Jeans of various sizes, sweatshirts and jumpers, coats, hats and scarves. Please could any donations be washed and clean when they are donated. We also need men's underwear, but these do need to be new, please.
Blankets for use at the night shelter would also be very welcome.
You are all so generous and everyone at the shelter thanks you.
As before, all donations need to be brought to the shelter at Downside Community Centre, Pan Estate, Newport after 7pm any night. We are still working on getting other collection points throughout the Island and will post as soon as we have details for you.
Heather

Hi everyone,
Having spoken to Andy and Ruth, the information I had was not correct. Sorry, but there are no other drop off points for donations on the Island. We are so grateful for all the donations we receive, so we will try to organise other drop off points. This may take some time, but I will post if we are able to arrange anywhere else.

Hi everyone,
Thank you so much to those who have donations to give and have emailed me. The night shelter opens at 7pm every night and any donations can be taken there. The Downside Community Centre, Pan Estate, Newport. The door is by the front car park.
There are other drop off points on the Island and I will post the addresses as soon as possible.
Apologies, as I'm new to doing the admin and new to Facebook, so need to check the details before posting.
Many thanks
Heather

We would like to say a BIG thank you for the overwhelming support we have been shown for this project. Both in terms of FB likes but also for the calls and offers of help. Thanks everyone!

We can now report that we have sadly lost the two original buildings we were looking at. We are now actively looking for alternative buildings in Newport for a shelter and will post updates on here of any developments.

We would like to say a HUGE thankyou to those of you who have already made donations but as we are still raising funds towards this project, any ongoing support would be welcome.

We are also appealing for extra overnight helpers to help from Dec 1st. These need to be men or married couples. If you are able and willing to help, please contact Andy by email at [email protected] or phone on 07811003361.

Thanks to everyone who has liked our page. The support has been amazing. We need to turn this into financial support for this project, so if you are able to donate just £1 each or more if you can afford it, it would help us turn this vision into a much needed reality. It can a 'one off' or a regular gift, its up to you. Every penny counts!

Please donate via www.iwnightshelter.org/donate

Thanks!

Thanks for your continued support, we are at a crucial stage with the vision and are trying to source funding for this project. We believe this is needed now rather than further down the road, so please share and help us raise awareness across the Island. The more public support we have the easier it is to secure funding.
