BE AWARE: Labour are “pushing for” the removal of the Old Green roundabout 👇🏻

In January, Labour’s Newport Councillor Rhian Howells outlined Newport Council’s formal position on the Old Green roundabout.

Cllr Howells said “If the full value of any proposals relating to Old Green is to be achieved, it is vital that the entire package of Burns measures are delivered, and that is what we are pushing for at regional and Welsh Government level.”

One of the Burns measures is to remove the Old Green roundabout.

Newport Labour are “pushing for” it.

🔵 THE CONSERVATIVE POSITION 🔵

Newport Conservative Campaigner Michael Enea was the first to stand up and say ‘NO’ to the planned changes to the Old Green roundabout.

Mr Enea launched a petition signed by almost 2,000 people opposing the changes. He has campaigned relentlessly against the removal of the roundabout which would inevitably gridlock our city centre.

The Newport Conservatives:-

✔️ Firmly oppose Labour and Plaid Cymru’s ‘War on Motorists’.

✔️ Always supported building the M4 Relief Road

STATEMENT ON NEWPORT’S CITY CENTRE

Newport Conservative Council Opposition Leader Cllr Matthew Evans MBE has said:-

"Five break-ins in the city centre in seven days is deeply worrying and concerning.

I can’t begin to imagine the impact this must be having on traders, not just financially, but also on their mental health and wellbeing. No one should have to run a business in an environment where they feel threatened, intimidated or constantly worried about what might happen next.

As Newport’s Opposition Leader I will continue to raise serious questions about the early release of prisoners, policing, the CCTV coverage across the city centre, the council and outside bodies on how they can also assist in tackling this unacceptable behaviour.”

We keep saying it. Newport’s Council Leader is in the wrong party!

He should join the Welsh Conservatives.

❌ It was Welsh Labour who scrapped the M4 Relief Road in 2019.

❌ It was Welsh Labour who set up the Burns Commission to deliver barmy ‘alternatives’ to the M4 Relief Road.
