🌞 Amber Weather Warning: Stay Safe in the Heat 🌞
With an Amber Weather Warning in place for most of this week, it's important that we all take extra care during the hot weather. Whether you're receiving care, caring for others, working outdoors, travelling between visits, or simply going about your day, staying cool and hydrated is essential.
💧 Top Tips for Staying Cool and Hydrated:
✅ Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don't feel thirsty.
✅ Avoid excessive alcohol and caffeine, which can contribute to dehydration.
✅ Keep indoor spaces cool by closing curtains or blinds during the hottest part of the day.
✅ Wear loose, lightweight clothing and a hat if you're spending time outdoors.
✅ Try to avoid direct sunlight between 11am and 3pm where possible.
✅ Eat light meals and enjoy water-rich foods such as fruit and salads.
✅ Use a cool shower, damp cloth, or fan to help lower your body temperature.
✅ Take regular breaks if you're working outside.
✅ Check in on family, friends, neighbours, colleagues, and anyone who may be more vulnerable to the heat.
⚠️ Signs of dehydration can include dizziness, headaches, dry mouth, dark urine, and feeling unusually tired.
Let's all look after ourselves and each other during this period of extreme heat. A quick message, phone call, or visit could make a real difference.
❤️ Stay safe, stay cool, and stay hydrated.
