The Village Shop at Brighstone lies at the very heart of the beautiful, bustling village and its community. The Hollis family have carefully managed the Village Shop since 1976, providing good customer service and a wide variety of groceries to cover all customer needs. A well-stocked fresh fruit and veg stall makes an impressive display outside the shopfront; including the famous I.O.W. garlic an

d fresh local tomatoes. We also provide a good selection of plants and flowers. Brighstone Village Shop and Convenience Store West Wight

We have fresh bread and cakes Monday to Saturday from two Island bakers, Market Bakery and Graces. To avoid disappointment arrive early to purchase our delicious crusty rolls and more-ish lardy cakes. Artisan Sourdoughs from Island Bakers are also stocked on Saturdays. Chillers are on hand for storing a wide range of fresh local meat, such as the ever-popular Mottistone lamb and Newbarn Farm beef. We also provide a good range of ‘fast-food’ such as pies, quiches and sandwiches. Our cheese selection includes stock from the Isle of Wight Cheese Co. such as I.O.W blue and I.O.W. Gallybagger. Finally our freezers contain a variety of ice-creams and other frozen goods. Wherever possible, Island produce is stocked. This includes other essentials such as Briddlesford milk, Hazelgrove Free Range Eggs and flour from Calbourne Watermill. We also have local Apple Juice from Sharon Orchard and Wine from Adgestone Vineyard. The Village Shop ensures it provides a good service to locals and visitors alike. From Oct 2013 we now have The Village Post Office in the shop, offering postal services, cash withdrawal and foreign currency.

Thanks so much to everyone for their lovely comments and "likes" on the news of my retirement.
I have made the shop and the village my life for the last 47 years and have really enjoyed my "career" in the family business.
This wouldn't have been possible without the support of the community, and the teams of lovely staff who have worked with me over the years!
I am looking forward to some free time now, but will also be helping out in the shop from time to time, as it is too important to me to let it go completely!
So a big THANK YOU to you all xx

After working full time at the Shop for the past 47 (!) years, Judy has decided it is time to slow down a bit. She will still be there though - just one or two days a week.🙂
I am sure you would want to join me in thanking her for all her hard work over those years and to wish her well in her "semi-retirement".🥳
Her last full shift will be on Sunday afternoon.

I would like to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who "liked" and commented on my 45th anniversary at the shop.
I am very proud to be part of a business which has been so well supported by the local community over the past 45 years - we wouldn't still be here if it wasn't for you!

The Village of Brighstone has seen many changes over the last 45 years – 6 rectors, 7 head teachers, 7 pub landlords, the loss of the tea gardens and the arrival of the hairdressers and the coffee shop, to name but a few.

One thing remains the same– “Judy in the Shop”.

February 3rd 1976 saw the arrival of the Hollis family as the new owners of The Village Shop, with 18 year old Judy agreeing to “help out for a while”.

45 years later, young mums of the 1970’s are now grandmothers and Judy is still here serving the third generations with a smile 😊
