Part of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). The Intellectual Property Office became an operating name of The Patent Office on 2 April 2007. The Patent Office was set up in 1852 to act as the United Kingdom’s sole office for the granting of patents, although the origins of the patent system stretch back at least a further 400 years. The Designs Registry was set up in

1839 to protect industrial designs and its responsibilities transferred to The Patent Office in 1875. The registration of Trade marks became a Patent Office function in 1876. Intellectual Property Office

IPO CEO Adam Williams launched IPO’s Knowledge Asset Management (KAM) Hub this morning at the Knowledge Exchange UK Conference - a new resource to help research institutions and businesses identify, protect, manage their valuable intellectual property and wider knowledge assets.

The KAM Hub brings together a set of practical tools and resources including the KAM Guide, which helps senior university leaders, knowledge exchange practitioners, academics and researchers, make informed strategic decisions about the use of their IP and knowledge assets.

Thanks to Knowledge Exchange UK , UK Research and Innovation, Government Office for Technology Transfer and National Protective Security Authority for some great partnership working to see this launched.
