Cornwall Council Roadworks in Newlyn
Newlyn Pier & Harbour Commissioners provided Cornwall Council with feedback on its proposed scheme of roadworks during the public consultation, in which we raised our concerns about access to and from Newlyn Harbour for emergency and commercial vehicles, and made a clear statement that effective traffic management would be of critical importance should the scheme progress.
We are hearing from Newlyn Harbour users that these works are hindering their access to and from the harbour on what is a modestly quiet day for us, and it is clear that the concerns we raised have not been heeded by Cornwall Council. Furthermore, members of the public are taking risks in trying to bypass the traffic by cutting through the Newlyn Fish Market quay, which is both dangerous and disruptive, and we ask that everyone respects the access and parking restrictions around Newlyn Harbour.
It is imperative that Cornwall Council completes these roadworks as swiftly as possible, with active management and all other necessary measures in place, around the clock, to ensure the flow of traffic and minimal disruption to local businesses and residents.
