Good as Gold is staffed in accordance with government standards. In the Baby Room we have provision for 12 babies (0-2) with a staffing ratio of 1:3. In the Toddler Suite we can cater for up to 37 children with a staffing ratio of 1:4 for 2 year olds, and 1:8 for 3 and 4 year olds. The Officer-in-Charge holds a BA(Hons) Degree in Early Years, and has also achieved Early Years Teacher Status. All K

How does your garden grow?
Our strawberries are starting to emerge and our broccoli, carrots and onions have established themselves and are also growing well. Unfortunately our rhubarb was a little unsettled with the move to the new garden and is taking time to settle in. The children are excited about picking and eating the strawberries soon!

I honestly can't believe how fast the year is going and it is summer already! I just hope the weather catches on and stays dry on Friday for our Teddy Bear's picnic! We have lots of lovely, summery invitations to play this week from making lemonade to playing in a fairy garden!

At Good as Gold there are lots of opportunities for learning through play every day, and sometimes...... we just do things for fun! The children had an amazing time on Superhero day, joining in with party games and dancing, and they all won Spiderman stickers to take home. The Hokey Cokey is always a firm favourite and at the request of the children we had a very long conga line! The children all looked amazing in their costumes and loved being superheroes for the day.

This week our babies have been exploring sounds from using their voices to make animal sounds to exploring the different sounds that can be created by banging two objects together. These activities have been helping our babies to learn about cause and effect - banging an object creates a sound, develop hand-eye co-ordination - strengthening control over grasping and movement, identify different sounds - noticing the difference between metal, wooden and plastic sounds and developing early rhythm awareness - experimenting with beats through random tapping! Very noisy but lots of fun!
