Sharing time and making memories

Giving our foster carers the opportunity to come together to share advice and experiences doesn’t always have to happen in a formal support group. Recently, our Fostering North East team hosted a relaxed picnic in the park for foster carers and the young people in their care.

With the team on hand to offer support during the event, carers could take a little time to unwind and enjoy each other’s company, while the young people played, explored and simply enjoyed being children - creating happy, shared memories in a safe and welcoming space.

The picnic is just one of a series of informal get-togethers organised by our Fostering North East team as part of their 24/7 support for foster carers and one of their regular social opportunities for our fostered ‘Young Stars’.

We’re always looking for people who feel they can provide the care, stability and encouragement children need to thrive when they can’t live with their own families. Foster Care Fortnight

To mark we’ll be supporting the national theme of ‘This is Fostering’ to show what it means to be a foster carer and the difference having a foster family makes to the children placed in their care.

From showing the little things that matter most to our fostered children to holding a celebration for our amazing foster carers, we’re proud once again to support Foster Care Fortnight.

Most of all, we hope the two-week spotlight on all things fostering will encourage people to consider becoming a foster carer with our not-for-profit agency, so we can provide even more loving foster families for children in our area.
