Elswick Community Pool and Gym Elswick Community Pool and Gym is a registered charity. We run a community pool and leisure centre. Hello and welcome to Elswick Community Pool and Gym.

Re-opened in September 2019 by local activists after a four-year closure, we’re an award-winning social enterprise and registered charity powered by passionate volunteers and a professional staff team. In our lovely warm, uniquely shaped, accessible pool we offer lane and family swimming, Aquafit classes, fun inflatables, pool parties and male and female only sessions. Additionally, we run both gr

oup and one to one swimming lessons from the tiniest of toddlers with their parents up to adult classes at any age. Our Swim England and STA accredited lessons start from age 4 with friendly instructors and lots of support to ensure you enjoy learning to swim. Lastly, we also deliver RLSS lifeguard courses and host clubs for scuba diving, triathlon training and other exciting pursuits. Additionally, we have a well-equipped gym with a range of cardiovascular and weight stack machines, free weights and dumbbells. We can also help you make exercise plans and support you to achieve your goals. Most importantly, we have dedicated male and female only gym sessions. The fitness studio is where we hold a range of classes from Pilates to Zumba. We are always here to advise on what would best suit your level of fitness. Additionally, we have rooms to hire for meetings, community events and parties. Get ready to make a splash in the heart of Elswick where fitness meets community spirit!

💙 SEPTEMBER AT ELSWICK: MOVE, CONNECT & CHECK IN 💙

This September, we’re bringing our community together to focus on something that really matters — looking out for one another. 🫶

From 7–13 September, take part in our Check-In Challenge 💛. Pick up a bingo card from reception and complete simple acts of kindness and connection — whether that’s asking someone how they’re really doing, inviting someone for a walk, having a coffee together or doing something active with a friend.

Leave a positive message for someone who might need it, or take a message that speaks to you. Sometimes, a few kind words can make a bigger difference than we realise.

🚶‍♀️ WALK & TALK – THURSDAY 10 SEPTEMBER AT 12PM
To mark World Su***de Prevention Day, we’ll be heading out for a relaxed community walk. Everyone is welcome — come along, have a chat, meet others and spend some time together.

You don’t have to wait until things reach crisis point to ask for help. If you’re struggling, worried about someone, or simply need someone to talk to, there is support available.

For urgent mental health support in Newcastle and Gateshead, call 111 and select the mental health option. This service is available 24/7 and puts you in touch with a mental health professional.

🚨 If you or someone else is in immediate danger, has seriously harmed themselves, or needs urgent medical help, call 999 or go to A&E.

There are also many local organisations that can provide support with mental health, bereavement, homelessness, domestic abuse and other difficult circumstances.

You are not a burden. You don’t have to deal with things alone. 💙

Sometimes, the simplest conversation can make a big difference.

The summer holidays are over, the routines are back and we think you deserve a little time to relax too! 😌

Why not escape the busy week and enjoy some time in the pool? Whether you’re swimming some lengths, bringing the family along or simply looking for a little time to switch off, we’d love to see you at Elswick Community Pool. 💙

💙 A little reminder for our community: carers can now enjoy FREE pool entry when they present a valid Carer’s Card. This applies to both paid and unpaid carers. If you don’t have a Carer’s Card, our usual admission prices apply.

♿ Tomorrow | Sunday | 3:30–4:30pm
We’re also holding our Disability-Friendly Swimming Session — a relaxed and welcoming session for people with disabilities and their families/carers.

Come along, take a dip and enjoy the pool in a friendly, inclusive environment. 💙

Just a little timetable update for you! 👇

📅 Wednesdays: Public Swim is now 7pm–8pm (instead of 8:30pm).

And because the schools aren’t back just yet, we’ve added two extra public swims this week! 🎉

🏊 Thursday: 1pm–3pm
🏊 Friday: 1pm–3pm

So why not make the most of the extra swimming time before the school routine begins! 💦😊
