It's amazing that our group has grown to nearly 70 young people in the past year, with all our sections getting back to healthy numbers, but we could do more, especially in our younger sections, where we have 20 young people of age waiting to join our group.

What stops us from growing further, primarily in our younger sections, it's the need for more adult volunteers due to higher adult to child ratios, however, we could do with additional support in all sections.

That's where you, or someone you know, could come in. We could do with some extra adult volunteers, and you may think, oh that's not for me, I don't have the time, or I don't know what to do, but here are some things you may not know.

- Volunteering is flexible, you don't need to volunteer every single week

- We have a team based approach, each section has a Team Leader, but the approach to running the section is very much a team approach

- There's online training that helps you understand your role

- Support is always available and you will never be asked to do something you are not comfortable with

- Learn new skills and develop yourself whilst volunteering

- You don't need to volunteer in the same section as your child, if you want to give them their independence, you can volunteer in another section. Some of sections even run at same times making it easier.

So after Easter, we are looking for anyone aged 18+ who would like to take the Four Week Challenge.

Volunteer for just four weeks and be amazed at the difference you will make.

Week 1: See what we get up to
Week 2: Start to help out with what you are comfortable with (no pressure)
Week 3: Get a little more involved (again no pressure)
Week 4: You'll know if Scouting is for you

🏏Backworth Cricket Club a thriving and expanding community club. With junior teams, mens & women's there's something for everyone.

🔴Backworth Croquet Club playing social and competitive croquet. A great, inexpensive sport of skill strategy and tactics.

🎯 The Bowmen of Backworth archery club both fun and competitive. A low impact, inclusive sport.

🏕️Backworth Hall Scouts beavers, cubs and scouts held at the hall on a Monday evening. A great opportunity for all children to get involved in a jam packed programme of activities.

🎉 Weddings We're a fully licensed wedding venue. We have two indoor spaces which cater for up to 120 people. Or for something extra special you can host your special day in a marquee in our amazing grounds.

Backworth Hall Scouts, currently offer scouting for 6-14 year olds, but coming soon, we plan to launch Squirrels, the newest branch of the Scouts family tree, where 4-6 year olds can join in too.

This is an age when minds are fizzing, when energy and curiosity levels are high, when little lives are full of wow and wonder.

Set them climbing the tree. Who knows how far they’ll reach?

As a volunteer organisation, we can't do it all by ourselves, so we are also looking for passionate and enthusiastic adults who would like to get involved, and with flexible scouting, the commitment can be as much or as a little as you are prepared to offer.

New Home | New Name

We love our new home Backworth Hall, and now that we are not in Killingworth anymore, we thought it was time to update our name to represent our new home, so 3rd Killingworth is now Backworth Hall Scouts.

We will never forget our roots or the history of 3rd Killingworth Scout Group.
