Congratulations to nine of our Officer Cadets who conquered the Beyond Newcastle Ultra-Marathon on April 25th!
Raising money for the Army Benevolent Fund (), this crew showed serious mental grit, resilience, and teamwork to push past the limits and cross that finish line.

A contingent of our Officer Cadets recently headed to Sandhurst to compete in the King’s Challenge Cup.

This annual showdown brings together UOTCs and UOTRs from across the country, providing our OCdts a fantastic opportunity to test their mettle and showcase their competitive spirit. It was a high-energy weekend of sports, featuring everything from rugby and netball to the Old College Dash and the ever-popular tug of war!

Roses, chocolates or room clearance?

Valentines day is usually known globally as being the day of love. But for our Junior and Senior Officer Cadets, it marked one of the best training days of the calendar. Our three companies embarked on a day-long urban operations training package. This included learning methods of entry, urban patrol and room clearance.

Testing their freshly honed skills, the day ended with a bang - a fast paced method of entry race between sections and an urban assault, including the extraction of a high value target (HVT).

Our Officer Cadets are looking forward to an upcoming Urban Ops training. This exercise provides a great opportunity to develop core battlefield drills, learn methods of entry, and refine section-level tactics while operating in complex environments. OCdts will put their theoretical knowledge into practice, with effective teamwork remaining at the core of the training.

At NUOTC, officer cadets are encouraged to pursue every opportunity to grow their courage and leadership, as well as teamwork throughout all modules of training.

Recently, a cohort of our senior officer cadets partook in the Army Assistant Trainer (AAT) qualification course, representing a major step forward in their ability to assist training delivery. They attended sessions covering the essentials of teaching, from presentation technique, to adding a personal flair touch to every lesson.

Moving forward, they now possess the skills required to teach the fundamental lessons covered from basic soldiering to taking command, and hand down the knowledge they have learnt throughout their time at NUOTC.
