Meet Alison, our principal French Horn player.

Alongside her instrumental role, as a Senior Non-Commissioned Officer, Alison also manages our music library making sure that every player has what they need to perform at their best.

Outside the band, Alison balances family life with her husband and 11 year old daughter, and a busy career in Finance. The Fusiliers Band gives her the chance to keep performing at a high level while serving as an Army Reservist.

"Looking back, I can't believe the opportunities the band has given me. I joined playing the cornet, but I was given the chance to learn the French Horn (fully supported by the band) and I've never looked back! When I'm at band, I'm not a wife or a mum, I'm just me and that's why I love being in the band"

Do you play Tuba, Trombone or French Horn? If so - be like Alison and get paid to play!

Meet David, our newest addition to the trumpet section.

David joined the Fusiliers Band a little later in life - although some way off the upper age limit of 62!

David is a busy man… an Office Manager by day and on evenings and weekends, he helps people save and make money on their essential home services. David is also a church warden. However, he is also a highly committed member of the Fusiliers Band.

“My favourite job of all is performing with the Fusiliers Band. Being a member of such an amazing band is fantastic. As well as being amazing musicians, everyone has been and continues to be so helpful and welcoming.

The band gives us the opportunity to play in some amazing locations and settings. It’s a great way to de-stress and be around like-minded people."

Do you play Tuba, Trombone or French Horn? If so - be like David and get paid to play!

Meet Eddie, the newest member of the Fusiliers Band. Eddie has thoroughly enjoyed playing the Tuba with the band throughout his first year at Newcastle University, where he is studying Architecture.

He has already performed at numerous concerts and events with the band and is a member of the band's Brass Quintet.

Eddie says, "The Fusiliers Band has enabled me to make great friends and connections while developing my musical ability. I am really excited for our annual camp in Nijmegen in July, and can't believe that I'll get paid to go!"

Do you play Tuba, Trombone or French Horn? If so - be like Eddie!

Trombones needed....

Meet Ffion our Principal Trombone... By day, Ffion works as a trainee solicitor in International Trade and Maritime Law. In the evenings and at weekend, she plays with the Fusiliers Band.

Ffion would love to reinforce her section with some new trombonists...

"Playing with the Fusiliers is a great way to decompress, play in unusual locations (photograph taken in Vietnam) and meet with other musical people."

Please get in touch if this is something that would interest you!
