It was great to attend a Newcastle City Council meeting alongside the Newcastle Veterans Hub, where the Armed Forces Covenant was being discussed.

The Covenant is so important to veterans, serving personnel and their families across Newcastle.

But for me, it is our local veterans’ hubs that really make a difference on the ground.

The Newcastle Veterans Hub provides a place where veterans can walk through the door, have a cuppa, enjoy some banter and speak to people who understand them. It offers friendship, support and, most importantly, a real sense of belonging.

It was good to hear the Covenant being discussed and to be there alongside people who work hard every day to support our local Armed Forces community.

Working together and listening to our veterans is how we make sure nobody is forgotten or left behind.

Congratulations!!!

Congratulations to Councillor Evison for yesterday's win in Reform UK. Throckley Walbottle & Newburn !!

A consummate professional and a very nice man!

He will make a fantastic councillor!

Steven Rutherford, Reform UK’s opposition leader in Newcastle, said that the result cemented the party’s position of strength in the outer west.

He added: “I think it shows that the wards where Reform are in Newcastle are ours and nobody is going to take them.”

Well done team !!
