🤟 Makaton Signs of the Week: Look and Listen 👀👂

Each week, we’ll share new Makaton signs that the children are learning in school. This week’s signs are “look” and “listen.”

Makaton uses simple signs and symbols alongside speech to support understanding and communication. It gives children and adults an additional way to express themselves and helps make communication more inclusive for everyone.

Please ask your child to show you this week’s signs—they’ll love teaching you what they have learned!

🐝 Busy Bees Become Map Makers! 🗺️

In Geography, our Busy Bees in Year 1 have been learning how maps are often created from a bird’s-eye view. They then used their creativity and geographical skills to make fantastic LEGO maps of their classroom from above. What brilliant young geographers! 🌍👏

St Luke’s Children Shine!
A few days ago, we were approached by a videographer who invited some of our children to take part in an advert raising awareness of food banks and the importance of Harvest.
We are delighted to share the finished result! A huge well done to all the children involved—you were absolutely fantastic, and we are incredibly proud of you all.

🌟 What a wonderful start to the school year! 🌟

The children have looked absolutely impeccable in their school uniforms. Thank you to all our families for helping them return looking so smart and ready to learn.

Walking around school over the last two days, the children’s work ethic has been brilliant. It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm, focus and positive attitudes towards learning. What a fantastic start to the year!

We would also like to wish all our former Year 6 pupils the very best as they begin Year 7 and start their exciting high school journey. We are incredibly proud of you all and hope you have had a wonderful start. Remember, you will always be part of the St Luke’s family! 💙

🎨 We are incredibly proud of our wonderful art teacher, Mrs Brown, who currently has her artwork displayed in an exhibition in Penzance!

What a fantastic achievement and a wonderful inspiration to all our children. Mrs Brown shows us that creativity, dedication and a passion for art can lead to amazing opportunities.

🌟📚 Welcome Back to St Luke’s! 📚🌟

We are very excited to welcome all our children back to school and cannot wait to hear about their summer adventures!

A particularly warm welcome goes to the new children and families joining our St Luke’s community. We are delighted to have you with us. ❤️

School reopens on Wednesday 2nd September at 8.40am. Our staff are busy preparing for an exciting year filled with learning, fun and new experiences, and we cannot wait to see everyone’s smiling faces again.

We are also sharing a helpful information poster from the Department for Education, offering advice to support children as they settle back into their school routines.

🌡️🔥 HOT WEATHER WARNING – SILVERDALE COUNTRY PARK 🔥🌡️

With hot weather expected, please take extra care when visiting Silverdale Country Park.

🚫 NO BBQs under any circumstances. Dry grass and vegetation can catch fire extremely quickly. A BBQ, disposable grill or even a discarded hot coal can start a devastating wildfire, putting people, wildlife and the park at risk.

🔥 If you see a fire, do not approach it. Ring 999 immediately and give the emergency services your location.

🌊 NO SWIMMING in any water at Silverdale Country Park. Our water bodies are not safe for swimming and can contain hidden hazards, deep mud, submerged objects, steep banks and sudden changes in depth. Open water can also cause cold-water shock, even during hot weather.

☀️ Please stay hydrated, seek shade and take regular breaks during the hottest parts of the day.

No BBQs. No swimming. If you see a fire, call 999.

Please help us keep Silverdale Country Park safe for everyone. 🌳❤️
