πŸ”₯ Great Fire of London Workshop πŸ”₯
The Performing Pandas had a wonderful time during their workshop on Wednesday!
They got hands-on making sweet-smelling pomanders, exploring artefacts, rebuilding London, and creating their own clay fire plaques 🏺
The children learned all about life in 1666, how the fire started and spread, and the important role of Samuel Pepys πŸ“œ
A fantastic day full of learning, creativity, and fun! 😊

We are looking forward to finding out all about this year's challenge.

A huge thank you to Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service for delivering an amazing safety lesson this morning to our Performing Pandas in Year 2! πŸš’πŸ”₯

The children thoroughly enjoyed the session and learned valuable lessons about keeping themselves and others safe. It was an engaging, interactive experience that helped build their confidence and understanding of fire safety.

Thank you to the firefighters for giving up their time to inspire and educate our pupils. We are very grateful for your support and the important work you do in our community.

🌟 Volunteers' Week 2026 🌟

This Volunteers' Week, we would like to say a huge THANK YOU to all the wonderful people who give their time, energy and support to our school community.

We are incredibly grateful to our Governors for their dedication and guidance, to members of Silverdale Methodist Church and Elim Pentecostal Church for their continued support, and to our fantastic PTFA members who work tirelessly to organise events and opportunities for our children.

Thank you also to the parents and family members who volunteer at school events, help with activities, and support learning in classrooms. Your generosity, encouragement and commitment make a real difference to the experiences and opportunities we can provide for our children.

Our school is strengthened by the kindness and support of so many people, and we are truly thankful for every volunteer who helps our school community thrive.

If you are interested in coming into school to volunteer, please contact the school office on 01782 973865.

🀟 Makaton Sign of the Week 🀟

Each week, we'll be sharing a new Makaton sign that the children are learning in school. This week, we're focusing on the signs for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday!

Take a look in this week's newsletter for the signs and Mrs Easby's video, and have a go at practising together at home.

By learning Makaton together, we're helping to build confidence, understanding and inclusion for everyone. πŸ’™

πŸ†πŸŽ¨ Learning Leopards Art Update! πŸŽ¨πŸ†

Our Year 6 Learning Leopards have been exploring the work of sculptor Claes Oldenburg and discovering how everyday food can be transformed into amazing works of art!

The children have been developing their clay modelling skills by learning how to manipulate clay to create food-based sculptures. Inspired by one of Oldenburg’s famous sculptures, they carefully crafted their own apple core sculptures, using two pinch pots joined together to create a hollow form.

Next, the children will be using acrylic paints to add colour, texture and detail, helping their sculptures look even more realistic.

We are incredibly proud of the creativity, concentration and artistic skills shown by our Learning Leopards throughout this project. We can't wait to see the finished masterpieces! 🍎✨
