West Berks Rapid Response Cars

West Berks Rapid Response Cars WBRRC (West Berkshire Rapid Response Cars) a charity providing fully equipped cars to off duty ambulance staff that relies on public donations to operate

It’s a well known fact that in an emergency every second counts and a rapid response can make the difference between life and death…

The WBRRC was set up in 2004 with one car. Since then the trustees and supporters have raised sufficient funds to keep four cars on the road. Since 2004 the four West Berks Rapid Response Cars attended in excess of 2000 incidents across the area of West Berkshire, t

o the borders of Oxfordshire, Hampshire and Wiltshire. To ensure the cars remain on the road, serviced and maintained in order that they are able to save lives, the WBRRC relies on the continued generous donations of the public and local companies. The Rapid Responders are all fully trained paramedics and medical technicians, they drive the cars in their spare time and are paid a nominal fee per job by the NHS trust. When a 999 call comes in, if they are closest to the incident the responders can be at a patient’s side before the ambulance arrives, saving vital seconds and providing crucial, lifesaving assistance. In addition to accidents in the home, high street and on the roads of the county, the cars are often called to major accidents, such as those on the M4. The WBRRC is lucky enough to have the support of Swift Couriers, Vodafone, and our President, England and Arsenals Theo Walcott … but the charity needs your support too, as we need to keep raising funds, to keep saving lives in West Berks!
