⚽ Are you ready for Mexico v South Africa tomorrow?

It’s been 4 years but the world cup returns tomorrow with Mexico v South Africa kicking off at 8pm (GMT).

Don’t forget to recycle your glass when you’re clearing up.

In the green box you can recycle:
♻️ Glass bottles
♻️ Glass jars
♻️Perfume bottles

Lids can be left on bottles and jars but please make sure jars are rinsed to remove any food residue.

Please don’t include:
❌ Window or greenhouse glass
❌ Broken glass
❌ Pyrex and drinking glasses
❌ Light bulbs

Recycling glass helps save energy and means it can be made into new bottles and jars again and again.

A quick rinse and sort makes all the difference.

♻️ Don’t forget… aerosols can be recycled

Aerosols are often missed, but they can go in your recycling bag as long as they’re empty.

✅ Deodorant, air freshener and shaving foam cans
✅ Empty and ready to go in your recycling

🚫 Please don’t include:
❌ Part-full aerosols
❌ Aerosols marked with a hazard symbol (these should be taken to a
Household Waste Recycling Centre)
Recycling aerosols helps recover valuable metals that can be used again and again.

A quick check before putting your recycling out can make a real difference.

🫙 Recycle your glass – again and again

Glass can be recycled again and again without losing quality, so it’s important we keep it in circulation.

While packaging is changing and becoming lighter overall, glass is still widely used for bottles and jars. Recycling it properly helps reduce the need to use raw materials and saves energy in production.

That’s why it’s important that every bottle and jar is recycled.

Please remember to:
✅ Rinse all glass bottles and jars
✅ Place them in your green glass box

♻️ Glass can be recycled infinitely, so every bottle or jar you recycle makes a real difference.

🌍 World Environment Day

Today is World Environment Day, a chance for all of us to reflect on how our everyday choices can make a difference.

Whether it’s recycling more, reducing waste, or reusing what we already have, small actions really do add up.

Here in West Berkshire, we’re proud to support residents in managing waste sustainably and protecting our local environment.

♻️ You can get involved by:
✅ Recycling as much as you can
✅ Using your food waste caddy
✅ Reusing items where possible
✅ Disposing of waste responsibly

Together, we can help protect our environment for future generations. For more information on how you can do your bit to reduce waste visit: www.westberks.gov.uk/reduceyourwaste

♻️ Plastic pots, tubs and trays – yes, they can be recycled!

From yoghurt pots to plastic ready meal trays, these items are accepted in your recycling bag.

Before you pop them in your recycling bag:
✅ Give them a quick rinse
✅ Remove any film or aluminium lids

🚫 Please note: we cannot currently recycle black plastic or plant pots at the kerbside so these must be placed in black bins.

Small changes like this help improve recycling quality and make sure more materials are recycled.

⚽ Recycle more this summer

With a summer of football ahead, many of us will be getting together with friends and family to enjoy the matches.

We’d love everyone to enjoy the tournament responsibly and help keep West Berkshire looking its best by recycling as much as possible.

Warmer weather and big events often mean an increase in plastic bottles, cans and glass.

Please remember to:
✅ Recycle everything you can, including plastic bottles, cans, glass bottles and cardboard
✅ Use litter bins provided when you’re out and about
✅ Take your rubbish/recycling home if a bin is full
✅ Do not leave litter behind in parks and public spaces

♻️ Busy periods can mean more waste, but with a little extra care we can all help reduce the impact. For more information on what goes where visit: www.westberks.gov.uk/recyclingcollection

Let’s enjoy the football and do our bit to keep West Berkshire clean and green.
