Our next meeting of the Environmental Committee is on Wednesday, 24th June, at The Salvation Army Hall at 6:30 pm.

This can also be viewed in the Town Noticeboard on the side of our office building on Front Street. The meeting is open to attend.

All meetings of the Council and Committees are open to the public. There are some occasions where the public and press may be excluded to discuss sensitive items in private, but the Council seeks to minimise such occasions.

💃 DANCE OR DEVOUR — EVERYONE MAKES THE MAGIC! 🧺

Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, get ready! On Saturday 25th July, our promenade is transforming into a sea of red for The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever 2026—and whether you're performing or picnicking, you are at the heart of the action!

Koast Radio is providing the music and more information on performances out shortly.

🧺 If running up that hill (or dancing on the prom) isn't your thing, your mission is just as vital: we need you to bring the community spirit, and the ultimate coastal feast! We want to line Northumberland’s longest promenade with a massive, vibrant wall of community joy for The Most Wuthering Picnic.

Full details for the day, plus how to grab your tickets for the official Most Wuthering Picnic experience, will be dropping very soon. Keep your eyes peeled!

Why not skip the food prep and support our incredible local cafés, restaurants, and high street businesses by grabbing a legendary local takeaway to enjoy on the prom?

Got the urge to join the sea of red? Don't be shy! We are running 3 FREE, relaxed dance sessions to help you learn the iconic moves. You can even do these sitting down!!

No pressure, no experience needed, and you don't even have to stay for the full hour—just pop in, learn a step or two, and have some fun! (Don't forget to bring a bottle of water to keep yourself hydrated!)

Session 1: Tuesday 30th June at 1:30 pm — Newbiggin Community Hub

Session 2: Thursday 2nd July at 6 pm — St Bartholomew's Church Centre

There’s a temporary Seasonal Operative role open for 22 hours a week. It’s a great way to work outdoors and keep our local area looking brilliant.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗷𝗼𝗯 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀:

Keeping our streets clean, maintaining grounds, and looking after public conveniences.

Working 22 hours a week, Monday to Friday (with occasional evening/weekend call-outs).

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱:

A full driving licence.

Experience using relevant tools/equipment and the physical fitness to handle outdoor work in all weathers.

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of former Newbiggin Town Councillor, Sheila Harrison.

Sheila was a devoted public servant, a pillar of our community, and a true champion for our town. Her incredible legacy stretches across many corners of Newbiggin—from her career as a retired schoolteacher who shaped the lives of local children, to her leadership as a Director at the Newbiggin Maritime Centre and much more.

Always putting her heart into projects that drove Newbiggin forward, Sheila was a vital force who worked tirelessly to make our town a better place to live, work, and visit.

Her passion and dedication leave a lasting impact that will never be forgotten, and she will be deeply missed.

Our thoughts, prayers, and heartfelt condolences are with Sheila’s family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her at this difficult time.

Whether you want to put your own plot forward or nominate a neighbour whose garden is a masterpiece, we want to hear from you!
