🌿 The picnic food is freshly made this morning and now on its way to Riverside Park! 🌿

Today’s vegan picnic menu is full of colour, care and flavour:

🥕 Roasted carrot & parsnip with beetroot-carrot dip
🥒 Cucumber & hummus rounds
🥬 Lentil & spinach pastries
🍠 Sweet potato, black bean & garden herb salad
🥥 Coconut rice & peas
🍲 Lentil & potato dahl
🥗 Fresh mixed salad
🍓 Fruit & nut flapjack with sliced fresh fruits

Come hungry, bring a blanket or chair, and join us by the river for food, music, community and a joyful protest for the River Trent.

For our Picnic Protest for the River Trent, we wanted the food to reflect the world we’re fighting for: generous, inclusive, thoughtful, colourful and full of life.

Because Pride is not just a month. It is a reminder that public spaces should belong to all of us. Riversides, parks, streets, town centres, picnic blankets, protest spaces - all of them should be places where people can show up as themselves and feel welcome.

So yes, even the food is political.

Rainbow colours. Vegan picnic energy. Coeliac-safe options. A table laid with love by the River Trent.

Blidworth showed us what local politics should feel like.

Last night we held our first local Green Gathering in Blidworth.

It was a thoughtful, honest conversation about what matters locally - transport, potholes, buses after 7pm, community activities, Blidworth’s proud mining heritage, and the need for more connection, belonging and opportunity.

One person said she felt listened to.

That stayed with us - because good local politics starts by listening properly.

Thank you to everyone who came along and shared your views. This feels like the beginning of a different kind of local conversation: rooted in the community, shaped by local knowledge, and focused on practical action.

Blidworth has a proud past, and it deserves a hopeful future.
