There’s a ghost in the museum, and the only way to fight it is with the power of poetry!

Join our artist in residence, Leanne Moden - Poet, for this free storytelling show inspired by the collections at the National Civil War Centre - Newark Museum.

Suitable for people aged 14 and over, this work-in-progress event showcases writers from our recent Hidden Histories workshop series.

Who's joining us on Friday (11 September) for our rescheduled Heron Music Café?

Come along for another free, friendly music morning at the Lifespring Church and Centre

🎤 Listen to live music from professional musicians, courtesy of our partner Musicworks
💃 Have a dance
☕ Enjoy complimentary tea, coffee, and biscuits on arrival
☺️ Relax with fellow music lovers in a warm, welcoming atmosphere

Each Heron Music Café event runs from 10:30am to 12pm, is disability and dementia-friendly, and there's no need to book.

Sadly, tomorrow's Heron Music Café at the Lifespring Church has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances 😥

Don't worry! The session has been rescheduled for next Friday (11 September) at the usual time of 10:30am to 12:00pm.

The Heron Music Café is back for Autumn/Winter 2026!

Taking place at the Lifespring Church and Centre, these free, friendly music mornings are filled with familiar tunes and friendly faces.

Sing along, have a dance, or just relax in a warm, welcoming atmosphere with fellow music lovers. There's even complimentary tea, coffee, and biscuits available on arrival!

There's still time to help us name our crow!

So far, the frontrunner is "Maid Carrion," with "Crowanne" a close second 🐦‍⬛

Since the 1930s, the crow has been kept in storage at the National Civil War Centre - Newark Museum

He's now nesting in our artist's studio on the top floor of the museum, after being rescued by our artist-in-residence, Leanne Moden - Poet, who has chosen her top five name suggestions from ideas left by museum visitors.

Our Artist-in-Residence Leanne Moden - Poet is hosting two FREE mini-magazine workshops at the National Civil War Centre - Newark Museum!

Using folded paper, collage, and colouring pens, youngsters can create a magazine or comic on any topic of their choosing 🖍️ ✂️ 📰

🗓️ Friday 28 August
🕰️ 10am to 12:30pm and 1:30pm to 3:30pm
📍 Artist's Studio, top floor of the museum
