📟📟 At 19:11 yesterday evening, New Quay’s all-weather lifeboat was tasked to assist a yachtsman in difficulty in the Aberystwyth area, together with our colleagues from Aberystwyth RNLI.

The 29ft yacht had experienced mechanical problems and the one person on board was suffering from fatigue and illness. The yachtsman was safely evacuated to shore by Aberystwyth lifeboat, where further care was provided, and two of New Quay’s crew were transferred to the yacht.

Attempts to restart the engine failed and, with the anchor dragging, it was decided that a tow would be the safest option in order to prevent the yacht becoming a navigational hazard in the approaches to Aberystwyth harbour. Due to weather conditions on scene, it was decided that the all-weather lifeboat would tow the yacht to the nearest safe haven of New Quay.

With the yacht secured to a mooring in New Quay harbour, the lifeboat was recovered and the crew were stood down at 01:30.

📟📟 This afternoon at 17:40, New Quay's inshore lifeboat was tasked to assist two persons cut off by the tide between New Quay harbour beach and Traethgwyn.

The two persons were quickly located by the crew and were then taken aboard the ILB and transported back to New Quay harbour.

If you're walking on the coast, remember to check tide times before you set off and, if you do get into difficulty, call 999 and ask for Coastguard.

📟📟 Two shouts in two days for New Quay ILB.

Yesterday at 19:11, our inshore lifeboat was tasked to assist a swimmer in difficulty in New Quay Bay, following a 999 call from a concerned relative. Shortly after the ILB arrived on scene, the first informant confirmed that the person had made it to shore and did not require any medical attention.

This afternoon, station personnel provided casualty care to a person who had fallen and sustained serious injuries on New Quay beach. Our colleagues at Gwylwyr Y Glannau Cei Newydd / HM Coastguard - New Quay Wales were then tasked and evacuated the casualty to the lifeboat station, where casualty care was provided for an extended period. The ILB was launched at 19:00 to transfer the casualty to the main harbour slipway and into the care of the Welsh Ambulance service.

Thank you to the doctors and members of the public who assisted. We wish the casualty a full and speedy recovery.

If you see anyone in difficulty at sea or on the coast, call 999 and ask for Coastguard.

With the lovely bank holiday weather remember if you get into difficulty in the water float to live.

could save your life.

Remember:
- Tilt your head back with ears submerged
- Relax and try to control your breathing
- Use your hands to help you stay afloat
- It's okay if your legs sink, we all float differently

Practice these steps at a supervised location like a swimming pool or lifeguarded beach so you know what to do in an emergency.

Well done Stafford!
