There have been no marsh-derived adult mosquitoes caught in the traps again this week, only a few that breed in man-made containers or in trees. The biting nuisance in the coming week will be low.

The pools on the marshes are essentially dry but may refill in the next week or so if the recent heavy rain continues and/or there is a significantly high spring tide at the end of the month. The tide that is forecast is unlikely to fill many pools unless driven higher by a significant westerly wind. If the breeding pools do refill, we would expect a mass hatch of new larvae which would mature to adults by mid- to late September. More next week…...

We've been told that there is a small white dog, we think a bull terrier but not 100%, loose on the high street near the front of the Town Hall.

No marsh mosquitoes have been caught in the traps this week. The marsh breeding pools remain dry and it will take many days of heavy rain and/or the next spring high tide (forecast 1st and 29th September ) to refill them. The mosquito biting nuisance will be low in the coming weeks. See less

Mosquito monitoring is undertaken by local experts who volunteer their time to improve the quality of life for our community. You can help with this monitoring by reporting bites. The more information we receive, the more we can create an accurate picture which in turn helps with targeting dredging....
