We all want to help birds and make our gardens or outdoor spaces a place where all wildlife can thrive. But some species, such as Greenfinches, are experiencing serious declines because of disease.

It's moth season! We've have been putting the moth trap out for a few Saturdays now as you may have seen Kevin and his finds! We expect numbers will start to significantly increase as the nights get warmer so we are super excited for Moth Mayhem mornings once again!

Come along most Saturday mornings to see what we've found overnight with expert help from Kevin our 'Moth man' 🦋🦋

Tymor y gwyfynod ydy hi! Rydyn ni wedi bod yn rhoi'r trap gwyfyn allan ers ychydig wythnosau nawr - efallai chi wedi gweld Kevin ein ‘Dyn Gwyfyn’ a’i ddarganfyddiadau'n barod! Rydyn ni’n disgwyl y bydd y niferoedd yn dechrau cynyddu’n sylweddol wrth i’r nosweithiau gynhesu felly rydyn ni’n gyffrous iawn am foreau Anhrefn y Gwyfynod unwaith eto!🦋🦋

More sightings from the week! A nice high tide on Tuesday brought the Avocets down to feed on the waters edge. Teal, Shelduck and Curlew also spotted amongst the grass. Tufted Duck are on many of the lagoons and a very smart looking Little Grebe also said hello between diving for stickleback!

More Hen Harrier action this week! With Hen Harriers moving further north to upland heather moorland habitat typically for breeding season, it's interesting to still be seeing this female late in the season.

Mwy o welediadau o'r Bod Tinwen yr wythnos hon! Gyda'r Bod Tinwen yn symud ymhellach i'r gogledd ar gyfer y tymor bridio, mae'n ddiddorol dal i weld yr unigolyn hon yn hwyr yn y tymor.

📢Important update from RSPB Newport Wetlands📢

In response to rising costs, all birds on site are now facing a bill increase. We can confirm they’ve been informed and are adapting as best they can.

We appreciate your understanding at this time.

Ever wondered why Blue T**s peck around the entrance of their nest box? They’re not trying to emulate woodpeckers - they’re actually customising the cavity, securing their nesting spot, and showing off their fitness to rivals and potential mates. Have you seen them tapping yet? Let us know in the comments any other nesting behaviours you'd like explained!

Ydych chi erioed wedi meddwl pam mae Titwod Tomos Las yn pigo o amgylch mynedfa eu blwch nythu? Dydyn nhw ddim yn ceisio efelychu cnocellod - mewn gwirionedd maen nhw'n addasu'r ceudod, yn sicrhau eu man nythu, ac yn dangos eu ffitrwydd i gystadleuwyr a phartneriaid posibl. Ydych chi wedi'u gweld yn tapio eto? Rhowch wybod i ni yn y sylwadau am unrhyw ymddygiadau nythu eraill yr hoffech chi gael eu hesbonio!
